Where to re-start?

Hi All,

I haven't posted here in years. My old forum name was Grampyseer, but I can't seem to login to that account anymore. I'm revisiting blood bowl with my sons, and have a couple of questions.

What items are needed to play the new GW edition?
Can you just buy the boxed game and expect to be playing LRB 6?
Are they still packaging 12 model incomplete teams? (I notice the new skaven only have 2 GRs. Is there a way to supplement?)

Thank you all, I hope you've been keeping well.

Hello and welcome back!

Team, pitch, dice. Same as it ever was :)

With a couple of alterations to a couple of rosters, yes you are still going to be playing LRB6 (and if you need that document check my sig ;)

Yes :(

Not really, if you want to stick with GW models. Some boosters are out and there may be more in the future.

This thread viewtopic.php?f=20&t=43404 has a good guide to what changed from LRB6 to BB2016.
There has been a few new books since then, Death Zone 1 & 2 (combined into an Almanac (that also had some WD stuff in)), and Spike Magazine.

Wait, so I'd have to buy the starter box AND Deathzone?

Only if you want to.

Hi, I'm back. Thanks for the reset, Loki.

Lunchmoney. Can you play a league without Deathzone? I'm confused.

I've got my league mostly playing with LRB6, so I cannot really comment.

Starter set contains the core rules, DZ1 contains the league rules. I'd recommend the Almanac over DZ1 and 2 as it contains other stuff and I was able to fix some errata that crept in.

Welcome back! To take up that theme, you can buy the almanac with the core rules, the teams of legend are available from the website, and you can grab dice/a board from GW reasonably cheaply. No need to pick up the main game.

Have the blocking dice changed?

They've had a face lift. Same thing, different pictures/style.

And as no-one's pointed it out yet, Skaven have a booster pack with the two missing Gutter runners on it. Its just through forgeworld.

If it is just you and your sons you could just play LRB6. Or you could just play whatever mix of rules that you like.

As others have noted you don't have to buy any of the new rules. But the boxed set for $100 US is:
2 teams ("incomplet" teams of 12 models)
Pitch
2 sets of dice and counters and balls
Base rules
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Bl ... l-2016-ENG

That's a fairly cost efficient way to get started. Pitch counters and dice alone is likely close to $50 if you went outside GW so you are getting two 12 man "partial" teams for $25 each. Others have suggested ways to use the provided 12 models to be the standard lineups for those teams barring big guys.
There's an argument to be made for just getting second boxes for each and then using the remaining 8 models from each to help make another mixed team.

League rules are not in the boxed set you could buy DZ 1 but might suggest considering the Almanac which has the first two DZ's.

If you are just dipping your toes in though you could get the boxed set and use LRB rules that would probably be most economical until you guys decide how deep you want to dive back in.
