Random question: is 2nd edition astrogranite pitch okay to use?

This is not related to square size - but I'm wondering whether the double space depth end zones adjusts the dynamic of the actual playable area
It potentially gives players a bit more space to try to find a route to the ball carrier. It also potentially gives the ball carrying team a bit more space to manoeuvre after a kick off
If it is okay to use, could you in theory have boards with 3 or 4 square deep endzones? Would imagine it would help pacier teams such as Skaven and Elves
Note I've no particular objection, I was just reminiscing over my pitch after unearthing my 1st and 2nd edition bits that were in the parents loft!
