Halfling Master Chefs & Lunch Packs as a Secret Weapon

For each 20k spent on extra special aromatic ingredients for Chef, he may roll an extra D6 exactly as above before each half.
take a look at what I was told will be official by october: http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBL/SecretWeapons.html

I'm wondering if it is possible to make "Master Chefs" the "Secret Weapon" unique to Halfling Teams...

Code: Select all

Secret Weapon Cost Penalty Team
--------------------------------------
Lunch Pack 20K 12+ Halfling
For obvious reasons, the Headcoach of a Halfling Team is a Master Chef. Before each Half, the Master Chef is preparing a Lunch Pack for his Players. The special aromatic ingredients for one meal each Half are free, but cost 20K for each additional one. Roll a D6 for every meal the Chef is trying to prepare. On a roll of 2+ the cooking is successful and a Lunch Pack can be given to one of the Halfling Players. The Halfling is inspired by the fabulous food, but the smell is very distracting for players on the opposing team! To represent this, a Halfling Player that is eating his Lunch Pack on the field can prevent a player on the opposing team from using a Team Reroll, and steal it for his side!
Referees who detect hidden Lunch Packs only confiscate the food and keep it for themselves. ;)

Nice idea, but i think that it may proove quite powerful with the Master Chef having already stole most of the opposition re-rolls before hand, before you know it the opposition will have none left at all.

personnally i'd rather see something along the lines of the Halfling Hotpot catapult

Hi McDeth, the idea is, you can only steal a reroll if the other team decides to actually use it.

normal Chef = take availiable rerolls
on-pitch Chef = take used reroll (prevent use for them, use it for yourself)

So a opponent can "counter" the chef by not using their Team Rerolls at all...

Yeah but stopping them from using a re-roll, is the same effect as stealing the re-roll, it makes having the re-roll to start with pointless, so it's just another extension of the Master Chef.

The Catapult, is a Halfling set of miniatures where they are firing a cooked concoction of hotpot from the sideline at the opposition. There is a GW set of figs for it. Imaging your blitzer charging down the sideline with the ball only to be splattered by boiling hot soup. Nasty

I see what you're doing here Toby, and I like the idea in principle, but its too much when you consider that the Chef does the same thing as is.

Maybe allow the Chef to prepare a player a lunch box: one player must declare a "snacking" action. He then gains the pro skill for the rest of the drive, inspired by the food. Lunch Packs are of course illegal by NAF rule 1234362452 subsection c, banning comestibles on pitch (after the infamous Muligatawny soup game between the Bluebay Crammers and the Galadrieth Gladiators, which cost the Gladiators a shot at the Blood Bowl and an enormous dry cleaning bill).

Im not sure if we are talking about the same thing;
basically i suggest removing the Master Chef "Wizard"
then equip a player with a "Secret Weapon", the way it works in the new rules.

The "Secret Weapon" is the Lunch Box, and the Master Chef is the guy who is responsible for this.

Thadrin, the "Take a Snack" Action is cool ^^. Like a Goblin starting a Chainsaw - the Halfling may do nothing else that turn but his team steals a Team Reroll. I guess thats better than my idea of preventing the others to use theirs.

That Catapult should be a Big Guy i think ;) sounds REALLY nasty :D

The Lunch Box idea is interesting, but as it does basicly the same thing as the Master Chef, I think I'd rather keep things the way they are now. Besides, I don't think even 'flings are stupid enough to eat on the pitch. :)

The catapult idea is a cool one, though.

The hot pot is very much a weapon...it could be like the Lightning bolt wizard power (then of course, we could always say that the HOT POT is the halfling wizard and go with Toby's secret weapon idea, which I like.

I also had the thought of "Varied contents of the Lunch box"
is it Vindaloo (breath o doom gives him st+1), Garlic (foul appearance for the stench), Beans (chronic flatulence!), Ded Bull (he's BUZZIN'!!!!), or a large pie (gives him Pro because its so damn good)...or just something that will give him the runs and knock him out of the game?

I see. lunch pack secret weapon replaces master chef. The only problem I see is that using a secret on-pitch allows you to use re-rolls for the check.
As I see it, you can't re-roll the master chef's power.

Sticky Buns! I'm getting to like this idea. A master chef that can steal rerolls, and the Sticky Buns secret weapon that gives the player Pro for the drive. I'd be for that. :)

Code: Select all

Weapon Cost Penalty Team
-----------------------------------
Lunch Pack 20K 2+ Halfling
The Headcoach of a Halfling team of course also is a Master Chef.
Chef is a true wizard in the kitchen and he uses expensive special aromatic ingredients to prepare lunch packs for the Halflings.
The ingredients for each meal cost 20.000 gold pieces. Chef usually has some in stock, so one is always for free.
Before each half, roll a D6 for every lunch pack chef has prepared. On every roll of 2+ one of the Halflings decides to have a snack.
The Players are inspired by the fabulous food, but the smell is very distracting for the opposing team...
...so for every snack they had the Halflings get one of the opposing team's reroll counters!

The general idea is, you purchase Master Chef rolls much like you purchase a Secret Weapon. So, the new Master Chef is technically more like a Secret Weapon. Can someone confirm that Galak's Master Chef, and my version are absolutely identical? (i.e the rule itself did not change at all) Because afaik Galak's rule will become official in October.

I kinda like it.
The permanent wizard should be paid for in some way. I mean the undead paid for theirs by not having an apothecary.
Maybe the dwarf alchemist should be something similar?
His runes cost X gold pieces for the ingredients. Hmmn. I don't think theya re identical because afaik you don't pay 20K for each re-roll "lunch pack" like yours. Though, I admit I haven't looked in awhile out of apathy.
I don't really know how this would work for halflings but I like it for a dwarf rune smith. Each +1 to a stat costs 20K and the wiz is permanent.

Dark lord.... see the Box where I cited Galak ?

This is the NEW Chef. And yes, you have to pay 20K for every "Attempt to steal a Reroll" (thats what the lunch box is).
