Rules for an Amateur Leauge
Posted: Fri May 16, 2003 10:39 am
Thought I would post some rules we are working on for a new Leauge format. Basicly we want to represent a Minor Leauge organization for our coaches to play in. Currently we are running a normal Leauge season of 10 games then a championship tournament per season. If you finish the ten games early in the season, you have nothing to do untill the tournament. So we need a format where we can play all we want.
Anyway, I am looking for feedback on what we can improve to make this a fun variant, but still representative of an amatures leauge.
Minor League Blood Bowl
Goals: to provide a constant gaming environment for players wishing to play Blood Bowl, even when their “Pro” teams have finished their season, without competing with the regular league for coaches.
As such the following is the proposed rules for the creation of an “Amateurs” division for Blood Bowl play.
The Living Rule Book will be the rule set used, with the following exceptions.
No Freebooters
No Big Guys/Allies
No 4-minuet turn limit
Having Illegal Procedure called on you results not in a turn over, but a free re-roll for the other team
Use the updated and experimental Rosters from the MBBL
Replace Aging with “Call Up”
There is a limit of 250 Star Player Points per Team (if you go over this you must retire a player to bring you under the SPP cap).
The MBBL handicap Table will be used.
When playing against a team with a Team Rating (TR) of 100 more than yours, each player on your team (that is eligible for the MVP) will receive one bonus SPP and an additional SPP for each full 50 TR above yours there after. For example if playing a team that has a 201 TR advantage, you will get 2 free SPP’s (if 165 then 2 free, if 250 the 3 free SPP’s) for each player after the game, in addition to what they will gain during play. This is to represent Players paying attention to the more experienced teams method and tactics.
League points will be scored as follows.
Each team scores 1 point for playing a game plus each coach can gain
+1 point for a draw (a game played through overtime and still with a tied score and equal amount of team re-rolls)
+2 points for a win
Points scored are doubled if your team has less than 75TR than your opponent.
Tripled if you are less than 150TR, and Quadrupled if you have less than 200TR.
Monthly Fun Thing
Each month a new “Fun” rule will be added and the old one will go away. Example “Any player with Strength or Agility of 4 or more is boneheaded” or “Starplayers can now be freebooted, but suffer from Wild Animal”
The first month’s rule is “Add one dice for each cheerleader you have when rolling for the gate.
Nominations for the next months rule should be given by the second week of the month, voting on the next months rule will be on the third week, results posted on the fourth.
Anyway, I am looking for feedback on what we can improve to make this a fun variant, but still representative of an amatures leauge.

After each Star Player Roll (STR) roll a D6. If the result is lower than the number of SPR’s the player has, then they have been called up to the big leagues. You gain the amount of gold it cost you for that player, plus an additional 10k for each SPR the player has.
