Last Pass at (or for) the Dark Elfs
Hi all,
recently we had a big discussion about changing the dark elf team, but it seems to me that it got sidetracked. So I'll try again.
IMO, it would be a good idea to differentiate the dark elfs more from the high elfs. The dark elf team description emphasizes that they prefer the running game over the passing game, so that is a good place to start.
I hope we all agree that the dark elf team is by no means too weak. If we add something, then something else has to be taken away.
My idea has 2 parts:
1) Change the thrower into a runner. The runner is a dark elf lineman with sure hands.
2) This has cost the team it's access to an entire skill category, and it should be compensated by getting access to another, namely strength. The loss was on 0-2 players, and in order to make the reward the same, the witch elfs gain access to ST skills.
(Previously, I've suggested giving ST to the blitzers, but as there is now 0-4 of them, I believe that that would be too much).
Simple really. 1 skill and 1 category replaced by another skill and another category. The darkies are now the elven team with a lethal edge, but at the cost of their impressive passing game.
*****The Dark Elf Team******
Evil incarnate, the dark elves enjoy nothing more than humiliating the opposition - and they are both agile and vicious enough to do so. Few teams escape the dark elves with just their pride in bandages.
0-12 70K Line Elf 6348 G,AG -
0-4 100K Blitzers 7348 G,AG block
0-2 120K Witch Elfs 7347 G,AG,ST jump up, frenzy, dodge
0-2 80K Runners 6348 G,AG Sure Hands
ReRolls 50K. Apothecary and Wizard as normal. No Big Guy.

I just give the thrower Sure Hands instead of Pass, and keep the Passing Skill access. Then you can develop a long passing game if you want.
Maybe giving DE Blitzers or Witches access to St skills would work anyway - but then the argument is what do you give HE which are probably marginally weaker?

I like the roster, but I also think the runner should be faster, maybe with a drop in AV to compensate. I don't mind the removal of the Passing skills from the team, as they are all AG4 anyway, so any AG increase or doubles skill can get you a good passing game.

Faster runners for sure, lover the AV.
Makes them more interesting.
ST on blitzers if no PS are available.
For three reasons:
If you haven't got any throwers you need more strengt-skills like guard and Piling On in order to stay in control.
Witch elves are blessed with a lot of starting skills, adding strengtskills to them will make them terrifying (leave norse blitzers with frenzy - Piling on - jump up).
At last it suits them better than witch elves.
Jeg ville også have vundet Lustria med det nye hold, gnæk gnæk.

Hi all,
no offense, but it looks like half of you didn't actually read what I said.
The idea is pretty simple. We've got a 4th elf team coming up, and to me it seems extremely boring that they all have access to an excellent passing game. This is emphasized by the dark elf team description mentioning that the darkies prefer the running game.
So I say, snip their super passing game.
They've got AG4 and can still pull off a decent passing game, but as a wise coach once said: "AG4 doth not a passing game make".
Then, having lost their super passing game, ST strength will help their ground based running game. Besides, they're really evil (tm), and breaking some bones seems very fitting.
Martin
PS - as for a 7347 runner, no problem

And i have a general problem playing High elves, when i could play dark elves instead.
Sure, they have no catchers, but with AG4 and agility-skills everywhere they are all catchers.
And in addition you get witch elves, 2 extra blitzers and you are allowed to be pure evil.
And if this wasn't enough, high elves got sooo ugly miniatures.
"Sheer spite makes the dark elves enjoy the running game",
yeah right, with throwers like that.
It does not matter much wheather a thrower/runner starts with sure hands or pass, since he is going to end up with both somewhere along the line.
The difference lies in whether he can get passing-skills or not.

Giving witches or blitzers strength skill access, IMO, gives them a leg up - and then all the HE coaches will say, well what about us, and before we know it the whole balance gets upset.plasmoid wrote:Hi all,

I think just changing the thrower into a runner with Passing skills access is enough to differentiate them from the HE and new Elves.
