New Roster Sheet!! Opinions, please!

Post by MixX »

Well, I have just finished creating an Excel Roster Sheet for Blood Bowl teams. (like a lot of other people out there, I guess!)

Well, anyway: I'd like to know if anyone thinks it should be improved in any way (well, I guess it should, so I'd also like to know what parts of it and why!)

Well, here's the file: (first one is pure excel format for those without WinRAR - my work doesn't have it for instance)
http://www.angelfire.com/magic/mixx/ros ... bymixx.xls
and as WinRAR archive:
http://www.angelfire.com/magic/mixx/ros ... bymixx.rar

So, please let me know what you think (good things, bad things!)

The ones in our league have a series of columns on the bottom of the sheet, but outside of the print area. In those columns, you can record the team's history game by game, with opponent played, touchdowns, casualties for and against, and a synopsis of the game. It's great to look back on 40 or so games down the road.

well, did you look at the various spreadsheets, you know - the tabs in the bottom? Maybe I screwed up my files, but otherwise there should be 2 with Match Record Charts..

No, I just see a big black rectangle under the team sheet.

Ok, well there's two possibilities, I think...

One is that the sheet-chooser is turned off (if it can be, I don't know), I have included a shot of how it looks on my comp

(EDIT: PICTURE REMOVED)

Two is that the file is screwed up, but I don't think so. (not 100 %, I'll never trust comps 100 %!!)

Works fine on my Mac, tabs and all.

Three touchdowns in one game. I almost got the Al Bundy Trophy.

Great, then I can stop fooling around with settings for Excel to see if it was something I had enabled specifically or something! Well, more opinions are wanted, since I plan to be a commisioner for our next local league, and have everyone fill in and update these sheets for easy comparison, so I want them to be as good as possible...

I see I was just not thinking in a properly - excel fasion. I do wonder though if 4 seperate sheets is really practical for one team? My league has over 30 teams, and all this information contained on one page for each team. Our league file is stored on a yahoo group so that anyone can download a copy of the entire league at any time, provided the main file has been updated with the most recent game report.

Hmm as the author of one of the other Excel Sheets around (Halfling Scribe's) i must say i miss functionality. A database of all team lists helps so much in compiling a team ...

Why did you split up the results to two sheets?

To Tim: True, but this was done deliberately since a pre-defined database also limits functionality, IMO. It does suggest the positions of players if you type the start of it, eg typing "bli" in the position field makes it suggest Blitzer. But I see your point, and will possibly expand on it sometime later.

To Skummy: I see your point too, and for the league (which will hold somewhere between 8 and 12 teams, not everyone has confirmed yet) I will have a central sheet, that lists all the teams by TD's scored etc, as well as picking out the "Most Scoring", "Most Mauling" and "Most Accurate" players in the league - that's why I went to so much trouble to include the "Greatest Stars" tabs in the individual team sheets as well.

But these sheets are intended for each coach to update only, and then they are used for making the central sheet, which will also be made download-able (thanks for the ideas!)

Keep it comin'!

I prefer the sheets that will work out cost/input starting skills when you enter the race (mainly as I'm lazy), but also it helps to eliminate errors (check out teamtracker for what I mean).

True, this one is meant for a few coaches who take a lot of time with their teams though. (why did he post it here, then I hear you ask, or well, think, or maybe I'm just hearing things, ANYWAY, let me answer :) )
Mainly to get it tested, and to get some input! I appreciate everything I'm told!
