If anyone is interested in the old PC Blood Bowl game, I wrote a utility that might be helpful.

With it you can customize your team type, generate and purchase random Free Agents, purchase special equipment, trade players, etc.

It is not a "cheat" program, it just extends the very limited number of teams, players and options in the original title.

You can get it here: http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~umscriv2/bloodbowl/

Let me know what you think.

Hi Aaron ..

I'll try this at home, if i make homeXP play the game.

Can it be used to generate customized leagues with, say, two teams of a certain race?? Does it exchange given teams for the new ones used??

I'll drop a line whenever i test it ...

regards

Hi TiMuN,

I'm glad to here you are going to try it! Hope it works in XP...

Yes, you do have to replace an original team to make a new one, but only for that league. Each league has its own save-game with complete team and player data, so you can have totally different teams in each league.

As for team races: you can have as many teams of each race as you want. You can also design entirely new races. The player graphics do not change, unfortunately. I am also slightly suspicious that some racial characteristics are hardcoded for each team (eg. elven frailty). However, it is probably just my imagination, since you can have players of different races on the same team in the original game (eg. treemen), and the utility changes all of the relevant player data.

I think that a lot of your questions will be answered when you try it out. Let me know if you have any that remain, though.

actually having played with it for a while I find it too time consuming and difficult to make new teams, so I have not actulally managed to add a team to the game
still, it got me playing BB pc and that has been an enjoyable couple of days  managed to win the championship with the halflings, but for some reason it is impossible to load an existing season (just can't select any of them) so that is disapointing as i would like to progress my team.

but back to the app. I find it too flawed to use and not user friendly enough, but maybe I just don't know what I am doing and should spend more time reading the manual (RTFM) hehe.

and as an aside question, what the hell does the 4 leafe clover icon in the game do? I thought it was a reroll, or something similar, but it doesn't seem to do anything.. anyone know what it is suposed to do?

bb pc game

the four leaf clover icon IS for a reroll
if you hit it before an action it will take one of your rerolls if needed
it never appears to do anything but if a reroll is used the green bar beside the team name will go down
also a word to the wise - the number of rerolls you have is based on how much money you have - all rerolls cost 50,000 of your money

the game is ok but not really what it could have been

ok, let's pop this up ... Anyone remembers a rumour about a new BB game beign developed for GW? I think i read it somewhere, but now i can't recall it. It was something like the guys in charge of programming the new Warhammer PC games (online real-time) where also asked to make a conversion of the BB game ... was it like that?

any of the Rulez Gurus have more data about this?

I don't remeber any rumour like that but there was a fan version that was half developed.

It was called Blood Bowl Alive and the makers got over half way done and then their enthusiasm ran out

they posted what they had done on the net
I don't have the URL but I will try to find it and post it
