Thanks for the info about that pitch and the others; lots of ideas there.
Tell me though, how does flocking (which I assume is the usage of loose stuff to form the grass) stand up to actual usage? It seems Torpor used a green baize for his grass, and I think that it would last longer for gaming. Any opinions?
P.S. Should this be moved to a new thread?

staying off topic....
flock stays on the base no problem if it is glued on correctly with PVA glue.. some people try to use green paint as an adhesive to save time... it doesn't really work. It is worth painting the base first and then gluing the flock on..

Off topic, but what the hell.
I think I'm a little mixed up on my terminology here. (Add that to being a rank beginner and you've got a winning combination!)
What I'm interested in is the pitch itself; the stuff that looks like grass in the trophy photos. Emberbreeze mentioned that it's called a flock mat, and from I've been able to dig up on the net, model railroading suppliers are probably the best bet for a good selection. Does this sound right?
As far as flocking the base of figures, I have some static grass (picked up in the model railroading corner at the local "toy" store), and I'm not too concerned about it being that durable.
What I wondering about was the durability of tabletop grass, especially if the modeller used something like static grass on the pitch. The mat mentioned above seems to be the most durable choice, but less realistic (obviously).

Yep, thats right. I got mine from this place, too. Now you need just a markings template, cut a mask of it and used it for painting the marking on the pitch. And about loosing some gras at some spots...hey, thats a BB pitch, not a english gardenmodel railroading suppliers are probably the best bet for a good selection

Cool! Seems to have the stuff to put together undead teams, too bad there's no football or fantasy lego minis, then he could put together human, elf, orc, dwarf teams. I know there is a medival lego range that includes knights and stuff but not sure if there are any viking types that could be used for Norse. Nice idea, would be nice to see the whole thing when he's finished.

Regarding the off topic stuff...
Erm?? Thank you for the attention with the pitch and the Lego side project. I have full Necro, Vampire and Khemri teams with Lego now. Wood Elves and Amazons are in progress. Humans are coming along as well but need to find a few more different soccer player numbered shirts to complete it. Pitch is about a week away from being done if I can get the right parts in. Will have more pictures of the teams and pitch when completed as well as do a page update at that time. Didn't realize anyone actually looked at my pages.
Andyinjapan feel free to PM me and I can give you step by step instructions on how I made that type of pitch if you are interested. Might do a quick webpage with instructions if there is interest.
...nothing to see here... move along... move along.
