HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
You dont want to make business with that joker, if he's still in business at all. That amazon project left people mugged for their money.
oh. did'nt know that about the amazons...
at any rate, i bought my orc team from him when it was first released. i(and my 2 club mates who also ordered the orcs from necrom) had no troubles with the transaction. and FYI, the orcs from necrom can be ordered from comixininos.

Seriously, there is nothing better than kitbashing the GW orcs. I`m usually pretty open all styles of the various manufacturers, but the regular plastic stuff of the former BB producer just cannot be bettered. You have the advantage of a uniquely posed team, plastic that won`t see chipping paint very often, light minis and are easy to replace or repose if you do not like them or want to get more of them. Plus there is always orcplayers with a lot of leftovers, so it will probably cost you about nothing to get enough parts for a complete team. On Ebay whole chunks of orcs are thrown away for ridcolously cheap prizes.

Neomics orcs are quite nice, too.

And Rams: indeed a lovely team. Agree on the GW-orcs/orks team, loads of bits to find, easy to convert/pose etc., good size.

Resurrecting this thread due to a question that came to my mind. So, I have absolutely no prior experience with TT Blood Bowl / Warhammer / anything, really. Never painted a miniature, no idea about price ranges (i.e. what's considered to be a good price for miniatures both new or used). I would like to get into it though. After picking up two Terry Pratchett miniatures during last year's holidays as a classic impulse purchase, my awesome girlfriend put a couple of matching paints and brushes in my advent calendar (if that term makes any sense to you).

Fast forward 1/2 year and I finally have decided to give painting a try. Before I dare to touch the very nice looking TP miniatures however (it's DEATH playing guitar and The Luggage) I'd like to fool around with some disposable models to get an idea of what I'm actually doing. Since I always wanted to paint a BB team anyway I thought I'd get some of the above mentioned cheap miniatures off Ebay. Here's the question now (thanks to anyone who's beared with me): What would be an acceptable price for a bunch of used Orcs? Inspired by JT-Y's incredible team I thought of getting some Orc Nobbs, Black Orcs and/or Boyz. Like I said, no idea what a good deal would look like. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Apart from looking for WH orcs, you might consider another option. Black Scorpion offer a very low priced Orc team in good quality (as well as other races)

https://www.blackscorpionminiatures.com ... p?cPath=31

And so does Impact Miniatures with their Trollcast teams

http://impact-miniatures.com/index.php? ... fballteams

And once you found a suitable team which you paint, but don't like the paintjob, then you can always soak them for 24 hours in Sterilium (clinical hand desinfectant) and brush off the paint easily

I would never pay more than half the original price for Ebay orcs, most of the time even less. When they are painted I`m taking off eve more of the price, since I`m actually looking for unpainted stuff if it`s plastic. Miniatures cast of metal one could say "but you can strip it". Yeah, I can even model miniatures myself if I have to and cast them and so on. The point is, what happens is that you habe to invest more time for a good look.

But that`s all from the point of view looking for GW orcs. I do like Kromlechs range of bits for orcs a lot as well or try to kitbash from various GW sets and sometimes other producers. Willy`s chainsaw is a very good looking one, even though it`s oversized. But for a starplayer it fits. The question here is personal taste.

My ususal method of selecting is actually pretty simple. With orcminis I usually want them to look a bit like pro-sportsmen, so I go for a common looking "base" of the mini. Usually they`ve gott have a helmet, pants and at least one shoulderpad, as it is typically BB in my opinion and is the spot for the number. The positionals I usually modify a bit. My throwers usually have only one shoulderpad. I imagine him throwing the ball would need a bit of arm-mobility (eve though you probably will rarely do it in the game when playing orcs). A regular lineorc is a little bit more padded, usually with two shoulderpads. Blitzers habe more spikes on them and I try to give them kneepads as well. Blackorcs should be bigger than the rest. When painting their skin darker it mostly works well to tell them apart. Here are a couple of examples:

Many thanks for the replies, lots of good advice. I would actually prefer to tinker around with various bits and pieces to get a look that is more unique and to my tastes, as I often find at least a few players that I don't like in almost any team. This would require getting a couple of seperate bits of course, since I don't have the luxury of unused spare parts lying around.

I like the look of the Black Scorpion Orcs, although I find the different positionals a bit difficult to tell apart. They also have skinny legs for being Orcs. Sadly, the team box only includes two BOBs and Blitzers each, exactly those positionals which most likely will be included in almost any standard Orc team. A quick forum search gave me only few examples of how the miniatures would look like painted. Amazing paint jobs though.

And thanks for the estimate, Dino. I had a couple of auctions for WH stuff on watch over at ebay which were only a couple of £/€ below the boxed price. Will have another look and see what I can dig up.
