I wish you had told me which category you were going to enter this into as it always looked "Open" to me and probably not right anywhere else. I agree that the GW staff should have been more helpful though..
Well, i just read the titel of the categories and " large minatures " sound good to me... ... but now i knew better. Maybe i will bring this big orc again next year in the right category. I dont have to loose anything at all with this mini
I know I'm being really picky, but is it meant to be a thrower or a blitzer?
Yes, you are !!! But, ok, with this "light" armor, it´s more a thrower. I will post more picts later, where you can see more details of the backside of the mini with no extra armor. For a blitzer i would have add some more biiiiiig spikes ! But it doesnt make a different... as i think, hardy someone of the jury will knew the differents anyway :D
you got no votes???
i´m not sure, if i got votes or not, but i just think, my entry wasnt comparable to the rest of the inquisitor minis. And so wasted in this category. There were good and better entries in the "Open category", but still there was a chance for my entry ...
I agree that entries from the French GD should not also have been allowed at the German GD. Nothing wrong with the best painters winning prizes no matter what their nationality is, but using the same thing to win prize after prize after prize sucks...

Just a minute... to make it clear. I dont knew and i dont think, those french entries won before !! Maybe they got 4th or 5 th places at the french GD , but they still were even better than some of the german entries!
They're good painters but they alwqys do the same stuff : Nurgle or brown-gray-green colors...
Thats right ! Great painted minis and conversion, but the painting style looks very same. quite nurglish ! I hope, GW will post a pict of this great "french" diorama, where a kroot is waiting to jump from a rock to kill a Imperial guard sentry !
... and don't paint them red and yellow
!
No, i wouldnt ! But at the GD04 was a Orcteam entry, painted exactly " my" colors. :o
...start a totally new converted team
A ogre team would be OK for you ?

Thanks to all for the Thumb up for my Orc ! :D

aah the classic golden demon madness.
having seen a few times very well painted figures ignored-and rubish ones picked to win the descision process is total bonkers. Shame Ed not reading this he could talk about it at lentgh....

imho the best way to win is - pick current (as in this years only) figure. paint it, give it huge OTT base, convert it a little but not drastic, highlight with white on every colour. then make sure if fits the category excatly.

ok hard bit - make sure if is not next too another similar sized - or god forbid same minature. wait for the cut and pray that the back of it is better than the front (you see any judges looking at the front LOL) so far this has pretty much been down to the base and not the quality of the paint job at all. The more more cyncinal thought would be that there are 100 similar very well painted minatures in a 2 meter cabinet, nad thus the 'extra' stuff is what wins prizes. pretty rare to see a 'odd' entry win or one that dates more than 3 years. - possibly not a global coincidence.

-----------------------

still good fun but they never pick the best to win

 quite a lot of the " advice " and reason, you wrote , seems ... at last partly ... true ! In my case i´m sure, nobody of the german jury even knew the original Forgeworld orc i used for the start. Especial as this item is running out and no more shown at the new Forgeworld catalog 2004.

Its mind boggling that you didn't bring home a demon. Thats one of the coolest things I have seen.

I think you need to start a new thread about that deathroller. Damn its cool. A real reason to get all those 2ed dwarves painted.

WOW!

I don't even want to ask how much paint you used for that huge thrower. The only thing... Isn't that to big to be posted under miniatures?

Great sculpture! It's a shame you didn't get anything! I'm in total amazement of it. I liked the original stick bomber, now I think it's pale in compareson to your blood bowl version!

What a shame the French were here...
It was the same this year at the French Golden Demon, there were for the first time foreign painters. Although they didn't win major trophies...

...not a shame about the french, more the shame about the not soooo good german entries
From the picts and the entries i saw until now, I still think, that the french GD entries are the best of the european GDs entries. Just my personal opinion !
Although they didn't win major trophies..
I would like to do a kind of revenge, visiting the french GD sometimes. But two reason against this... i dont speak and understand french and there is no BB category at the french GD !

Yep,big luck, that the Dungeonbowl is a german Event ...and , after talking to some german GWstaff, it will be a BB category at german GDs at last as long there is a DungeonBowl in Germany ! Next year they will try to do the organisation stuff a bit better and earlier to get some more international coaches. :D
