A bit of a disclaimer on this thread - I wasn't planning on showing pictures of this project here on TFF before NAFC, however Joemanji (UK Tournament Co-ordinator) has suggested that a bit of publicity for the competition would be welcome, so I'm happy to oblige! This category comprises two single models mounted on a single 40mm or 50mm Slottabase. The judges will be looking for a dynamic pairing of two well-matched opponents in some kind of dramatic situation occuring as part of a Blood Bowl match.
So my project is based purely on the fact that I happened to have lots of spare Elf catchers kicking around, as well as a lonely Troll. These two chaps in fact:

I figured I ought to be able to do something interesting to enter for the duel, and my original premise was that I could convert the troll to be holding the Elf in the air around the neck, throttling him.
Once I spent a bit of time looking at the models, I decided the 'throttling' pose was unworkable - the arms would obscure the troll's face, and the Elf's neck is far too small for one troll hand, let alone two!
After chopping off the troll's left arm, I realised I could easily have it grasping the Elf around the waist, with the right arm drawn back ready for an almighty punch (or mighty blow if you prefer!). What followed was somewhat of a cutting frenzy as the head, both arms and lower leg were cut off the troll, and the head, both arms and one leg were removed from the Elf. The pic below gives an indication of all the cutting involved:

Some major pinning, trimming, filing, bending and repositioning later, this is the result:

There's a hefty amount of sculpting work to cover all the damaged areas from the cuts - I added new bandages on the troll's leg, a new left shoulder, some additional armour plates and hair, plus sculpted a new right arm for the elf.
It was only after completing the conversion that I realised I'd made almost an exact replica of Heresy's Boris:

I can live with that I guess! Painting to follow - I'll aim to post WIP pics of the paint scheme as it comes along.
Hope you like it!
