Prices on Big Guys for the little guys.
In 3rd edition, it always stated that Goblin and Halfling teams had to pay double price when taking Big Guys and Star Players(different races) as these players would not lower their standard of teams unless given huge amounts of $$$.
Now, I've just looked at the LRB, and in the Big Guy rules there is no mention of this, or anywhere else that I can see. Does this mean that Goblin players can now take Ogres (fr instance) as Big Guy allies and not have to pay through the nose for them? Or am I missing something?

I'll be interested to see if Acerak answers you on this one.
At the beginning of the MBBL league, Acerak and I both emailed Jervis to ask him if Goblin and Flings need to pay double for Ogres.
He answered absolutely no questions asked Gobbos and Flings have to pay 240k to get an Ogre for their team to both of use seperately.
However its not in the LRB despite 3 revisions. Since Jervis was so adament ... its most likely an oversite ... but you are correct that the LRB does not state this.

LBR 1.3, page 18, bottom of the left column.
It's not blue, either, so I believe it's been there forever.
In a very, very bad spot though. Only would ever find it if you read every page in and out.
There you go.Players may only be freebooted in league games (see the rules for Freebooters later). Halflings and Goblins must pay double the usual price as Star Players don't like to play with them! The notable exceptions to this are Treemen for Halflings and Trolls and Goblin Secret Weapons for Goblins.

Problem is, the text only mentions Star Players, not your "standard" Big Guys...Players may only be freebooted in league games (see the rules for Freebooters later). I'm not trying to flame you or anything Dragoonkin, but I think that's a weird statement, especially for this case. It's not like "well how about we interpretate the text like this and that".... In this case, there is no text! That's the problem.Dragoonkin wrote:Let people be rules lawyers. It just means I don't want to play with them.

I'm hoping it'll stay that way. Then I won't have to buy any Troll or Treemen miniatures. I'll just go with a couple of Thrudds, since most teams can have BG Ogres. Just cheaper that way.

Though, having said that GW is probably going "hmm...." and will probably make it so that I'll have to buy those Troll and Treemen miniatures after all...

Ugh yes... hate the munchkin players (especially the dumb ones who try to bend rules that can't get any more black and white)... had enough of those while playing DnD.
Oh, and now when you mention it... doesn't it say something about the shorties and BG's in the Deathzone handbook? Personally I've never read it (getting my own BB box in a week) so I wouldn't really know (though someone on this board mentioned it a while ago). Though the question still stands since LRB "overwrites" DZ. Bummer.

Thanks for pointing out the rule about Star Players, I had overlooked that.
But you're right the BG question still stands. My gut feeling is that the little guys will have to pay double for Ogres etc, and GW just missed the moving of this text when they redesined the LRB. Ditto with the rule about treemen standing up in DZ, which also seems to have been omitted.
I'm cool either way
. Obviously, would have preferred to play an Ogre (they're just better IMHO), but what we want is clarification not an argument.

If dice have a probability bell curve, why am I on the part of the bell that keeps getting hit by the clapper?
