Any changes (even good ones) would fragment the community. Even if every NAF member universally approved of whatever a 'new BBRC' did, it would still create a divide between those in the know and those coming to the game new. I have some issues with the current CRP, but IMO the value of a central recognised ruleset far outweighs the value of improving the rules by 1% for the 1% of us who play often enough to notice. Which is a shame, because I think an evolving metagame would be a massive boon for Blood Bowl.

I also assume it would be no good for our relationship with GW. And that is something we know NAF has a firm policy on trying to maintain, or least not ruin.
The danger in that way of thinking is that we're allowing less knowledgeable parties (by which I totally mean Cyanide) to dictate the future direction of the game. And that, Of course, also serves to fragment the player base. When my league has managed to convert Cyanide players, they absolutely view Bloodweiser Babes and Chaos Pact as house rules but see Khorne as the "real thing." With more drastic changes coming in BB2 (or so I'm told, I don't rank high enough to get beta access  ), this will become ever more of an issue.

With that being said, it's quite possible (probable, even) that a new BBRC would exacerbate the issue while also calling forth the wrath of GW. It's a tough situation, without doubt.

if so, that wasn't always the case. Feel free to insert "special play cards" into my statement. :)

+1 to Joe's comments, FWIW. Especially the time machine.

Not always. Babes are available though, and there is pretty much nothing else below 100k.

Was in relation to the statement above about babes being regarded as house rules...

I suggest this is way too many changes for the community (or any group of coaches) to test at once.

All the best.

Wasn't Bank the one tested and later changed at last moment by JJ? Were others in similar situation? In other words, maybe not so big changes or just minimal testing needed.

I think some of the changes you can simple accept (right stuff change for example). What does that leave you with?

It's a fair point and a real concern. As you say, tough call.

Fair, but if they are licensed to do so then I'm not sure what can be done about it apart from collaborating with them and attempting to influence the direction of any changes.

Why would you "simply accept" those changes?

We could treat Cyanide as a distinct product from the board game, and consider their rules as mutually exclusive. Not suggesting that is the best option or even my preferred one. But it is just one more off the top of my head.

Talisman (on Android) and WHQuest (on IoS) are licensed products that are different from the board games, and I've not seen anyone suggest either board game is changed to follow them.

My point was addressed just because sometimes we forget that GW just simply leaved BloodBowl.

>> They stopped CRP development and disband BBRC.

>> They retired Bloodbowl miniatures from catalog and don't sell them anymore

>> They also retired the last support to NAF they provided (Blocking dice).

So far, from my point of view, why should GW to have an issue if NAF develops its own "House Rules" or "Tournament Rules"?

Sometimes I feel we do have kind of an irrational fear of "what GW could do". Don't really know what GW could do if a certain ruleset variation is published by a group of fans. Certainly, they did not make any move against Coreheim, Battlefleet Gothic:Revised, etc.

I guess if the game is no longer available as commercial product, even scans of the documents are legal (like abandowares). Correct me in this point if I am wrong.

In any case, if a newcomer just enter into the Bloodbowl world and note that there is a gamers organization suming up thousands of them around the world, that organizes official tournament play and circuit and drives a truly "World Cup" every 4 years... It is not ilogical to think he (her) will follow this organization ruleset.

Don't really want to promote polemics, I am just entering in the Battlefleet Gothic world and find out the game very few organizated. With different rulesets used.

From my point of view we do have an opportunity to avoid this OldBloodbowl derivation to what everyone wants to try. With NAF promoting an active Living Ruleset community will not feel this "orphan" situation that eventually leads to proliferation of alternative rulesets.

Just my thoughts about it.
