I got double 5 on a treeman. According to the rule book player's with movement three are not affected by the 4+ to stand up.
+ma good idea or has somebody got a better idea?

p.s. it's his first increase!

It would still be hell slow, but a good way to get round the 4+ stand up,If he's on a fling team then what about pass
Or Frenzy
Or Dodge and build him to block dodge.

I'd go for frenzy

That brings me to another question. Is a treeman withh a double on skill roll allowed to drop his take root trait ? That would be far more important than the MA +1.

In the current rules you cannot drop racial characteristics.

Nope all negative skills remain,(they are racial characteristics now)
You could lose them under Gold edition but big guys took to long to progress(double normal rate). So it was a kind of trade, gain skills at the normal rate, but you have to keep the negative ones.
Take root isnt to bad, at least you get them for the second half

It all depends on how you are using him.

If its a halfling team and he is throwing halflings all over the shop then Pass is a very good choice - helps saves those rerolls.

If its a Woodie team then Frenzy means he can make that 2nd block to ensure he is getting the opponent down and making the hole for the woodies to get through.

+MA is tempting, but how often does he get knocked over anyway?

why not dodge to help prevent 1/6 of knockdowns and that combined with Stand Firm means he ain't going nowhere, once you get Block he can just stand there and expect to get Casualties.

I believe that the Treeman standing rule is now gone and its any player with 2 or less MA has issues.

That said since I run a Halfling team ... double 5 for me have a couple option (most of this is repeating whats been said).

Pass (if you use Throw TeamMate)
+1 MA (if you have issues with the Tree falling down a lot)
Frenzy (if you get to throw a lot of Blocks with the Tree)
Dodge (if you find your opponent's don't stick around the tree so you need to blitz with him a lot (combine with Stand Firm you'll be able to take chances for tricky Dodges (this works great if you get Break Tackle in the future) .. added bonus is he doesn't fall as much)

Decide which of the 4 statements above is MOST true for you and you should have a good idea of what to pick.

With MA 3, you won't have difficulties standing up. This means you can use Piling On as your next skill a lot more effectively and REALLY put the hurt on your opponent's front line.

I HATE the change to the treeman standing rule.
Sure the problem should affect all players under MA3. Fine. But the problem should be a racial char for the Treeman. I just don't see them as being flexible...which I think was the point of the rule in the first place wasn't it?

Back on topic...Pass on a Halfling team, Dodge if not.
