Hi, Can we use a TRR on a sucess ?

Example : On my last turn, My Blitzer biltz the guy with the ball, POW. But my blitzer catch the bouncing ball, so I can't pass the ball to my player a in the TD zone, can I re-roll the catch roll, to fumble it, so a another player can take it and do a pass....

And it's been a bugbear of mine ever since the change. I've said it before (there's a thread on this somewhere) and I daresay I'll say it again.
Using a TRR to deliberately try and fail a roll is a ludicrous situation and is unparalleled in the game (AFAIK anyway).

<asbestos suit on> It wouldn't be ludicrous if you weren't forced to make catches<asbestos suit off>

I see no reason in the rules why not. Personally, we've house ruled that you may decline to catch a scattering ball. This is mainly for reasons that I'm not going to get into here because the argument's already been well and truly had.

Agree wholeheartedly (The TBBF house rule it that way as well).
This does come up, I can think of 4 occasions offhand that this rule has killed a scoring opportunity.
I could live with 'a player who has not yet taken an action must try and attempt to catch a bouncing ball.'

At that point you might as well allow the player to have the option of catching or picking up the ball; but not force him too. It would make a smoother rule with no exceptions. But it'll be a snowy day in Jaimaca before this rule gets implemented.

I'd certainly prefer to have a choice

I've always preferred the option where a player can scatter the ball rather than pick it up. It gives just a bit more choice and prevents the system where both sides stand around shoving each other rather than risk a turnover by picking up.

For a scattering ball it is even more obvious that it should not be compulsory to catch it. It has been suggested that a Blitzer should not follow-up, but that is often needed to put tackle zones on opponents who might catch the loose ball. And there is also the player moved up to assist who may get stuck with it.

I've always believed that anything that allows a choice puts a bit more skill in the game.

There's a simple differentiation to define here:

If the ball moves into a square with a player, he does NOT have to attempt a catch.
If a player moves into a square with the ball, he DOES have to attempt to pick it up.

Simple, and it solves the problem DW and Marcus mentioned while still ruling out football.

Just in case this restarts The Ancient Grudge: Some people like forcing players to pick up or catch the ball. Some players do not. Discussing the issue within your own league and house ruling accordingly is highly recommended.

I really couldn't stomach having to read through "Gall the Thrall" again ;)
