Casualty questions

Hey Guys and Gals,

Thanks for all your replies to my other questions so far. Two more for tonight:

1) If player A blocks player B and forces them into the crowd either T-boning them or blocking all other alternative push back squares on a diagonal block and a result of 10+ is rolled for the injury, does player A get Star Player Points for causing a casualty?

2) If casualties are inflicted on Team B through fouling by Team A, through failing dodge rolls, pitch invasions, thrown rocks, spells etc, do these count for the +1 modifier for 2 casualties when rolling for Team A's Fan Factor at the end of the match?

Thanks again!

No SPPs for crowd injuries.

The jury is out. A strict read would be that only Casualties that count for SPP count for the FF bonus.

However, in my league, we also allow Casualties caused by fouling and spellcasting to added to the team total for the FF bonus.

The rest is just hazard of the game stuff that doesn't count.

We always play that any casualties count toward the FF roll. Hey , the fans turn out to see Blood Bowl, not hugs bowl.

All those fouling casualties and fan caused casualties should count for something, after all.

just a small question on crowd casualties, if you block a player into the crowd (POW), do you get to try to beat his armour and injure him with your player before seeing what the crowd do to him?

Not according to the current set of rules, though some would like to see it that way and house-rule it accordingly.

Cheers,

Actually Valen I'd say no both legally and morally. You can't apothecary a crowd-inflicted injury, so you shouldn't be able to get SPPs for it too. It's like circumventing the apoth. Plus you didn't really injure him...the crowd did. You shouldn't get credit for something that didn't happen on the pitch. :)

Well, the POW did happen on the pitch. It's one of the house rule things. We're hard. We'd see if the POW got through (this could be apothecaried), if it didn't, we'd see if the crowd got him. AWW, sucks to be you! That's what you get for running down the sideline. What?!? Are you going to cry? AWW, now I feel bad. NOT!

We just feel you deserve it. It doesn't happen all that often anyway.

I always saw it this way... if I am in the open field and I Block the guy POW! then I obviously caused the damage, as he sprawls on the ground. Kinda like in American Football on the kickoff when the ball carrier gets freaking KILLED by a guy running from the other end of the field full bore.

Then I look at it as a Defensive Back covering a Wide Receiver and when they are near the sideline, giving them a shove/push the WR goes flying towards the benches, other players, camera men, special guests, assistant coaches, and finally the crowd, well if pushed well enough he will end up hurting himself.

So, yes I pushed him but I wasn't the one that injured him it was the crowd. But in the first case, I cleaned his clock!! And he will be a little stunned, and it was all me.

Just the way I always looked at it, I will stop now, I am starting to ramble....

Just thought though... yeah then it comes down to did the pow injure him before he went flying into the crowd... or did the crowd do it.

For the sake of the rules. I like it the way it is... makes sense.

If you look at the POW result on the block table, the opponent is pushed back and then knocked over. So if you are pushed back into the crowd, the knock over never happens - the crowd tear them apart first.

About the casualties and the FF-roll:

The FF-table says you get +1 if you have CAS 2+. So the only time you have that is when you have two nudges on your team roster in the CAS column. As Crowd Injuries and Foul Injuries don't produce those nudges, I'd say they don't contribute to the +1 on the FF table.

IMO casualties for FF are the total your opponent suffered, from any cause. I don't think it makes sense to play it any other way.

I agree with Ian on that one.

Any casulties our enemy suffers counts in the cas-result for the match, and thus cas from fouls etc. will count towards the +1 on the FF-roll.

And then why should you get the bonus for "something you didn't really do yourself"?
Well, it is a roll to see if your team's number of fans decreases/increases, and true BB fans don't care how the bloody cas were made. As long as they see people injured they tend to come back for more and take their friends along :-)

Casper's reason is the same reason that our league has for counting the any casulties achieved for the fan factor roll. It also affects our standings.
