Sweltering Heat at halftime

There's some debate in my league as to whether Sweltering Heat is rolled at halftime.

Rules as written seem to indicate that it would be rolled at the half (assuming halftime counts as "the end of a drive"), but I've found a fairly old topic on here that claims it would not be. I could not find a more recent ruling. I know common sense doesn't count for much, but it does seem like players would be recovered after an intermission.

So what's the official stance?

Half time is the end of a drive for several reasons
1) you set up and kick again rolling for any knocked out guys (which you do at the end of a drive)
2) secret weapons are ejected
3) no cards or skills (that I could find) separate the 2 (ie at the end of the drive or half time ...)
more reasons I am sure. Sounds like you got stung by the heat.

Well, I ruled that they had to roll at halftime, but I could/can see the other side of the argument and the old thread further clouded the issue. I guess the Heat description might have been rewritten in the past ten years, though.

EDIT: indeed, it used to read "after a TD has been scored."

Well sweltering heat that is only rolled at half time may never take effect because the previous Kick off result changed the weather.

IMO and this is logically that a drive ends when a TD is scored or when the Half ends.

It does not say roll at the end of the half.

It's a funny thing. Remember only roll for the players that have entered on to the pitch... if they are sitting out because of the heat then they don't need to be rolled against. However KOs IIRC roll 4+ to get out then 2+ to see if they can take part in the drive.

nope. Only roll for players on the pitch when the drive ends.

Halftime is the end of a drive. It says so in the second paragraph on page seven of the CRP under the heading "Sequence of Play".

You roll for sweltering heat at the end of every drive. Changing weather has no effect until the following drive.

I thought this was cleaned up?

You still miss the start of the 2nd half if you fail the roll at half time.
