Side Step and Following Up

Hiya,

So I was just thinking about this today. When you block/blitz a player with side step, the defending coach chooses which space to move in. When do you decide when to follow up as the attacker? Is it before or after they choose a space? I know it's before any armour rolls, but I don't know the order. Is it you choose whether to follow up before the defender chooses the space? Or the other way round?

If FUMBBL is anything to go by, you choose the follow up after the side step is resolved.

As per the rule book:
PUSHED: The defending player is pushed back
one square by the blocking player. The attacking
player may follow up the defender.

DEFENDER STUMBLES: Unless the defender
uses the Dodge skill he is pushed back and then
Knocked Down. If he does use the Dodge skill
then he is only pushed back. The attacking player
may follow up the defender.

DEFENDER DOWN: The defending player is
pushed back and then Knocked Down in the
square they are moved to. The attacking player
may follow up the defender.
The follow up is always after the defender has been pushed back, and that is when you decide (Frenzy excepting).
