This arguement came up in our league. In this example:

123
456
789

Can a Leaper go from square "1" to square "8" using the Leap skill? It was argued that either square 4 or 5 would be considered leaped, because it only takes 2 move to move from square 1 to 8.

Ultimately, the house rule was ruled "No, you cant do that, you must leap in a straight line.

he could leap to square 2 if he wanted to

you are allowed to leap over any square next to you to any sqaure next to the square your leaping over

so in your example if he was leaping over 5 he could leap to any of 2 3 4 6 7 8 9

think of it more as acrobatic jumping and summersaults if that helps you, you can leap sideways, it doesn't automatically mean your jumping over something

In your diagram, a leaper starting in 1 could leap to any of the other squares. All that is required is you leap over an adjacent square to a square adjacent to that square.

Correct a Leaper in square 1 could leap to 2 through 9.

if he has a problem ask him to show you where in the leap description where anything we have said is wrong, or anywhere else in the rulebook for that matter

yeah do that...the leap skill has already been raped from it's proper 3rd ed form, no point making it totally worthless.
