Fan Factor Calculation

So here is my question: When your FF goes up Post-Game as result of the roll...does that affect your teams value when calculating you Team Rating?

I would think that it doesn't since you didn't actually pay gp for it, but that's just my opinion.

Everything affects your team rating, things you paid for and things you got for free. TR is not the Team value in $ but its overall quality value.

yep narkotic is right...it's not like you really pay gp for spp's either, but they count against tr too. it's not about the money, it's about your team's relative strength versus other teams.

if 2 teams are completely identical, except one team has 4 ff and the other has 12 ff, the one with 12ff is a better team than the one with 4. don't believe me? roll up a pitch invasion. :)

Yes your tr goes up, u also dont pay for spp's but they do raise your tr.

I can agree with all the responses. My contention would be that SPP's aren't calculated in your Team Value, so even though they count towards TR, they don't count towards team value. Onthe Roster Sheet the Value at the bottom calculates your money spent, and gives you the value, then the SPP's are calcuated and added to it. Therefore saying you don't pay for SPP's either doesn't really apply.

It seems to me that in Wostlyj's response that even though 2 teams can have a differing FF of 5-8 points, it doesn't the one with higher FF is better. It just means that when on the random chance you roll a result that calculates FF...the team with the higher number has a better chance at winning that result. Just because I have a player with Block Dodge, and Stand Firm and only 1 die result will beat him on a block, doesn't mean that player is better then someone with pass, sure hands, accurate, and strong arm. They are just better in differing circumstances.

I realize that I am wrong. I just wanted to double check with the BB population to verify.

Thanks all for your answers!

How is that not better?

That's why I said everything else about the 2 teams was identical. The point I was trying to make was that fan factor is a good thing to have, and a team with more is better than a team with less, all else equal. :)

Well, in what circumstance would a lower FF be better?
(Except for keeping TR down, of course)

Both excellent points. I see where you are coming from. Thanks!

Why do players who are missing the game count in your TR?

this has bothered me for awhile...if player on my team is missing this game, why should my TR still include him for purposes of the handicap table? Also, if I had my way, we'd do Niggles before the Handicap table and exclude failures from the TR as well...

The player is counted on the TR since he is still an active player on your roster...he may not be active for that one game but should the other team be penalized since he cannot show up?

nah too much math, too much work, too much trouble. besides there shouldn't be any advantage to having guys missing the game.

Well, if you keep your teams on a spreasheet, it isn't too much work. I'm still against it though, since you're effectively taking away one of the bigger penalties to keeping a niggled player on the roster.
