Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
Well if you have any sense you will see that page 8 is a brief run down on what a player action is during their turn, while page 10 iirc is the actual rules on blocking where it states that you have to do this against an opponent.
So would you either use the rules, or you can be wrong
I think...I have to suggest to my league commissioner Valen that all members vote...since he taught it to me then he can't really argue!!!! I am a fair man ...
I refrained from commenting on this before. But anyone who believes that this tactic is allowed is just plain wrong. Its even in the rules and has been since at least 3E - quote page 9 of the BB Handbook:-
"Instead of moving, a player may throw a block at an opposing player who is in an adjacent square."
Fair comment Dave, but it is frustrating as a learner for the commissioner to demonstrate the wrong rules....then change his mind and wave a rule book...is that blatant abuse of power / cheating or innocent mistake....
And yes I can accept that we have been playing wrong...

Ahhhhh .. now I get the rub of the argument. The commish used the tactic and after the fact comes on TBB to see if it was legal after already profiting from the ploy.
My thoughts on this as a commish. The new LRB rules have really shook the rules up in several ways. The edits from 1.0 to 1.3 alone have some of the most knowledgeable rules folks like Zombie and I swinging and missing on certain rules questions. So mistakes are allowed here in my opinion.
Look your commish in the eye, tell him his beard is filled with cheese, and then play the rules the right way. There are folks who have played certain rules the wrong way for years (example: not allowing the use of the apoth on stuns) and the point is not to dwell on the way the game was played before the rules where known but the way they were played after.
House rules are fine ... but make sure that you have them for the right reasons.
True... its difficult to know from a few posts exactly who started etc... so.... the best way is to say OK..... from now on lets try and always play from the Commish down in a fair way. If something doesn't make sense then it probably is not within the rules.
As a Commish, I always feel that you should be more within the rules than the other players - set an example - don't use your position to win.... come on its so much better winning when you have won fair and square rather than relying on an obscure interpretation of a rule.
Anyway the bottom line is its a game... however deeply involved you may get in it... enjoy it!
Though I totally disagree with the tactic, whether it's legal or not I have to say.....
There's some damn fine lawyers out there!

I would like to make a point here, I have never ever used the tactic of hitting my 3 or 4 times, a couple of seasons I used a similar tactic to blitz my ball carrier into the end zone, and then Holy G's small little pea brain decided to start smacking his players all over the place.
He is just pissed off now because he can't do this simple one turn TD with his wood elves anymore.
He makes me

I would like to make anoher comment on Holy G's comment on abuse of power, that is complete bull s**t. After I had used that particular tactic to score, I then had no problems for the next two seasons with people hitting a player forward once or twice a game to score the winning TD.
I only stepped in when a couple of our coaches began to hit them 3 or 4 times to score 4 or 5 one turn TD's a game.
This was begining to get ridiculous.

To be honest, I started this league for a bit of fun, so a few lads could get together and play blood bowl over some beers and snacks.
But over the last few months YOU and only YOU has made this difficult with your constant arguing and sniping, and for you to draw me into a public online argument is very underhanded, and I am getting a little bit sick of you now.

As a commish of two years (some hear have me beat on this count by a big margin) over 50+ folks from 13 different countries: the commish is a minor diety.
When one of my players publically critizes me in such a manner, well its usually followed by me having a sit down explaining my way or the highway.
That said ... thread locked ... work it out elsewhere.
