More High Elf questions

Post by Remco »

I'm starting in a new league.

My starting roster is:
1 Phoenix Warrior
10 Line Elves
7 FF

My games will be (in order) against Amazon, Wood Elf, Skaven, Dwarf, Orc and High Elf.

Question 1: Should I start with 3 RR or with 2 RR and an apoth?
Question 2: Dodge or Block for the first skill on the line elves?

Note to self: make sure to start every game with "PLEASE, DON'T KILL ME!!!!"

I'd take 3 rr mainly for blocks, you have nobody with the block skill right.
Alternate block/dodge on the liners, first takes block second takes dodge.
Or maybe take two with block first to give you some blitzers.

Second that. Buy the RR now, you can buy an apoth after 1 game but not a RR. With 3 RRs it's worth keeping 2 linemen in the backfield to recieve the kick so one can throw a quick pass to the other and get off the mark SPPs-wise.

Starting with 1 or 2 with block will be necessary, after that alternate.

Alternate idea

Post by bradw71 »

Agree with everybody no the re-rolls, the apothecary doesn't cost twice as much after the first game.

Also agree to an extent with the skills, although I would go dodge first. I find that as you tend to have to 'stack' players to get an advantaged block, having elves with the dodge re-roll helps you get those situations without using team re-rolls.

And the alternate idea is the starting line-up. Without opening a can of worms (I know it's been discussed to death), you don't need as many re-rolls if you have positional players, and their extra speed helps IMHO.

Food for thought.

As you said i'm not going to open a can of worms but, as no player in this team starts with dodge and with ag 4 your gonna making plenty dodge rolls. Considering you roll on avaerage a 1 every 6 rolls, then it doesn't matter how many positional players you've got. Likewise when a Dragon warrior rolls a skull, without a re-roll thats an automatic turnover.

get your re-rolls in the starting roster, three if you can fit em in, but a minimum of two.
