Little guys set up???
Are there any experienced goblin or halfling coaches out there who could suggest some good offence/defence starting set ups? obviously being a little bit fragile you don't want to many stunties on the LoS, how do you guys set up? I've had a look at Galak's excellent site for suggestions but they seem to be divided in agility/strength teams - which goblins don't really fit into.

Post as far away from the LOS as possible...
Oh wait, wants serious advice. It depends on the Number of Big Guys, and how you want to use them. If you end up with skills you can actually pull off a 3-4-4 defence, but it's tough. When you get some survivors with skills, then you can try a slightly different set. 3 on line, and then having a square of four players on each side, with a Big guy assigned for hitting, throwing and protecting the little ones.

I've found it surprisingly effective, as it does conceed the fact that yes, you're going to pound me on the first turn. But I can now respond to cover where he goes, and have the option of hurling a player down the field as well. It's a defence that tries to contain until he's forced to make an error or gets unlucky. It should force him to play good tight footy, or you're getting the ball and blasting back up.

The usual defense worked well for my halflings. Two treemen on the LoS, with a halfling in between. Then all 8 other players line up 2 squares away from the LoS to apply max tackle zones. You get something like this:
Code: Select all
.....T.H.T.....
...............
.HH.H.H.H.H.HH.

Freeboot 2 'Flings every game ... use them and the Trees/Ogres as your three LOS men .... place most of them 3 spaces away from the Line of Scrimmage. Remember their movement ... try to keep 2 back for blitzing players that break through.Puggy BaconBreath wrote:Are there any experienced goblin or halfling coaches out there who could suggest some good offence/defence starting set ups? obviously being a little bit fragile you don't want to many stunties on the LoS, how do you guys set up?
