Spending first cash on a High Elf team...

Post by bradw71 »

I am seeking opinions on how to spend my dosh :)

I am running a High Elf team in a league and have player 3 games. Whilst I am yet to win a game and the SPP's have been hard to come by, I'm getting there and luckily haven't had any deaths or other losses (except FF!). Line-up is:

1 x Phoenix Warrior
2 x Lion Warriors
2 x Dragon Warriors
6 x High Elves
Apothecary
1 x Team Re-roll

I now have $120K burning a hole in my pocket. Should I:

a) Buy another player? In which case, what position?
b) Buy a team re-roll, which has the advantage of lowering my team rating (from 118 to 113)?
c) Something else? (Please specify)

Thanks guys.
Brad.

looks like you started with too many positional players which is gonna make it tough as you are desperately lacking in re-rolls. Therefore as you've got an apoth to protect against any fatalities, i'd most definitley go for a re-roll.

Seconded. Another TRR will be essential. I'd then concentrate on getting reserve linemen in.

Go for a 2nd re-roll, you should concentrate on skilling up your linemen, as your positional players will develop a lot more quickly by themselves, and more re-rolls will come in handy here. Just hope you come up against a lot of teams with high fan factor so you can build up a reserve or two and then another re-roll.

In my first league I started almost the same way as you did, thinking "re-rolls are not so needed with this team". WRONG! The first thing I purchased was a RR, and most of my cash goes to buying those. You'll need 4 or 5 for a decent game. I suggest you buy a RR, than a 12 player, then a RR, then a 13 player, than a RR. Good luck!

Hmm...yep, probably a RR this time, although another LW is tempting. Amongst the very finest players in the game..and you can turn them into great defensive players...Pass Block is awesome given that they start with Catch.

I'd go with the RR. One RR is way too few !

Deathwing,

By your reply, I am inclined to think that you think that having Catch means you can re-roll an interception chance. Is this right?

Also I would also go for an extra RR.

Yes he can Valen ! Great combo : Pass Block and Catch. Combine it with AG 4, and you got two chances of a 5+ for an interception !

Gotta admit those elves have qualities !

Yes catch can reroll interception attempts. Read the skill description it says there can reroll failed catches, hand off attempts or failed interceptions. Great for passblockers, especially if they have high ag, or very long legs as well.

Valen:

that's definately the way it is. You can use catch on your interception try.
That's the reason why the interception skill became obsolete ...

Especially when you have 2 AG5 Lion Warriors and a AG6 Dragon Warrior! :D

What I did

Post by bradw71 »

Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated.

I have decided to go with the overwhelming majority vote and get an additional re-roll. It was the way I was leaning anyway, it's just sooooo tempting to get another Lion Warrior, I just find them so handy :D

Anyway, I'm sure I'll be asking more questions once I play a few more games, thanks again.

Brad.
