Amazon Tactics Wanted

Post by Ballistix »

Ok being a new player to BB I'm looking to develop my tactics when it comes to my Amazon team. At the moment I am finding it hard to come to grips with an all average team, stat wise.

This doesn't mean I haven't won my share of games either. Mostly against hitting teams that forget about the ball and allow me to run in a 2 turn TD. I've utilised the basic tactics that can be found on the net, but find that they don't really suit the amazon team. Not being a fast team or an high agility based team.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Beating Acerak to the punch

Post by gallowin »

I'll get my $0.02 in before Acerak.I've been having a blast with the Amazons. The AV 7 is hard to take and been real lucky that my opponent isn't beating my armor that often. Once you get over that shock you're in for the time of your life.

Their strength is in the monotony of their stats & everyone having dodge. Since everyone is 6/3/3/7 this means anyone can catch, pass, hit just as well as anyone else. Your position players just have access to better skills and save you from using a re-roll or two. Starting team should be at least 12 players, 3 rerolls, an apothecary and enough fan factor to replace & add on new players.

I play a game of frustration, lining my girls up one square away and leaving them one blitz per turn. Dodge really helps in getting away but don't be afraid to lay hits. They can't do much damage if they're lying on the ground crying cuz they got beat up by a bunch of girls. :D

I find the Amazons can be amazingly effective. Everyone starting with Dodge I find makes them great in early matches, but having them all with the same stats. also has those uses. I've ended up with all the Blitzers getting Guard, along with almost half teh Linewomen. Since they all move the same and have the stats, especially the catchers, they make a formidable cage formation.

Those ST 3 catchers really do surprise an opponent a lot.

The amazons are a very good team.
It is important to develop your linewoman to get blodge players. Don't forget to get a level-up by one or two blitzers. They gain the guard skill.
Now you have an excellent cage formation.
The first matches aren't the matches to win, but to develop the skills.
It's very annoying to play against a team with all players having block/dodge and two or three of them guard.

Exact opposite of cage

Post by gallowin »

I have yet to cage up this season with the Amazons. In fact I've played a game of Frustration with my opponents. Defensively I keep a 1 square cushion between us and force them to try and blitz through me. Offensively I make all my free moves, do my ball movement, and then dodge five players out to tie up opponents and keep a floating wall between me and them.

All four blitzers are veterans, one catcher is an emerging star, and I have 4 blodge linewomen.

Amazon Tactics

I'm new to this Forum but not to Blood Bowl....
Hello All!!!

My Team is "The Tender Skanks"

............................................................................................

Yes I agree with building them up in a league, Getting the "Block" Skill!!!!!

Yes our Strength is low, but you can enhance that also...
"Piling On" Skill letz you add your strength to the Armor Roll...

Now for Tactics, mainly I play against Bruzier Teams so here we go:

When Kicking off, Only put 3 Girlies on the Line of Scrimmage, if they have Block, better yet!!!!!! Try to put them together to assist each other. All your other players 1-2 spaces back for your opponent... He will have to use his movement to get to you and will only be able to hit with a Blitz

When receiving, Put every Healthy Girl you have on the Line of Scrimmage, to get to block and assist each player on your team...

On Kicking off and receiving, matter of a fact, in most plays, "Following up" is a No-no!!! Unless you out number your opponents team's player...

Fouling is another tactic, but I don't use it too much cept near the end of most of my games...
I'd rather play fair till the end, cuz I don't want the other team fouling me as my armor Value is low... Most people I play are not huge on fouling, unless the other is is acting bad...
