One of the bigger arguments FOR a 6th Ogre might be that, while he may not contribute as much in Performance to TV Value as the first five ogres, his very presence does help protect your weak little snots.

First, it's one less snot on the pitch during the drive. Second, it can help with your defensive set up in protecting your snots. But I'm not sure this consideration pans out. As Lizardmen, I would never start a team any way except the 6 Saurues and 1 Kroxigor route, because on defense this allows three non-skinks on the line, and then four two-man columns off the line, with a saurus/krox in front of a skink in each column. This greatly facilitates protecting the skinks and helps make the skinks at least a little more difficult to blitz initially at the start of the opponent's drive.

With only six non-snot players, though, I think you've still got a hole that's going to make it quite easy for the opponent to 3-Die blitz a snot right off the bat. So, the 6th one might not provide any immediate protective benefit to the snots in general. IF you could have seven, then sure, snots would get a big boost to their safety while on defense. But with only six, it's going to still be really easy for the opponent to pick on them.

Given that, I think the sixth ogre can justifiably be left out, as his passive snotling protection isn't really there and his active team contribution will be a diminishing return at this point in the team's career, as has been noted quite a bit above.

thanks again for your comments.
I just had to disagree with this one:
Take this thesis to its logical conclusion: cut them all and go all snotlings!
So, anyone not using 4 catchers on the human team should just go with 13 linemen?

Dude, Zootsuit is just making a joke, don't take it so seriously. :o
