wood elf catcher with block rolls 6+6
This is my first time playing wood elves and I had second thoughts about going +ST because - well AV7 and the huge cost increase to just make him ST3
Our league is pretty Agility heavy this season compared to past. I have already played 2 of the bashy teams, as well as an aggressive skaven player - which only leaves 2 chaos teams, where they can easily still get a 2 die blitz on a ST3 player.
I have been debating nerves of steel or another guard instead.

With st3 and block he will become a much more useful allround player. I'd definately pick it.

Yes, take the ST to the catcher. You've got another Blitzer

I think Break Tackle is an excellent choice, and you haven't played me yet
.
Look at it at another way, what would you take instead? Guard? Mighty Blow? Guard is the only one which is halfway appealing, but with +ST, you have a great sweeper. Your Wardancers are probably both going to be committed when you chase the ball (one to leap, one to retrieve), so if they fail on an untimely snake, you are very exposed to an agile counter attack. Having a sweeper with MV 8 + sprint + blodge means that you can 1d pretty much anyone who is breaking alone, which drastically reduces the risk on the break.
I can kinda see thinking about Guard, but, you are AV 7. You won't outbash the other teams you have left to play (I hope!), so you have to plan to operate men down. ST 3 MV 8 Blodge is wonderful for that.

I also recommend +ST. With this he is already an outstanding player, and will get yet better with further development.
Hope that helps.

A lot of the time +ST is a no-brainer.
This is one of them.

Is it in your play style to take the ST. Bearing in my mind it is another 50k to the TV.
I like the doubles and would prefer to have skills. I like NoS, if the ball is in a TZ you can punt it out with not probs and if the Catcher is marked up he can Catch with no problems and a skippidy do out.
You have 2 Wardnacers and maybe a Tree, so will a ST 3 Catcher add to the line up or will he be over rated and over priced.
Yes ST3 is nice.

Would you take +MA on a blodge lineelf? If yes then the catcher is pretty good value with catch+sprint for 20k.
Anyway no matter the rest of your roster he will never be a bad player and +ST gives character so go for it.

Re: wood elf catcher with block rolls 6+6
I went with guard for a couple reasons.
1) is I'm trying not to get too attached to any one player... AV7 gotta get used to it!
2) Guard means he's pulling his weight more on defense than just a ST3 blodger.
3) I thought about NoS, but since this is the first time I am playing woodies I didn't want to get too used to it.
4) Stand Firm was another thought to be able to just stick him on a sideline, but a bit too situational - Guard is just too handy.

Woodies are for me an offensive team, no defence. So make TD so often you can. A ST 3 Catcher can stand alone in the front. And in the defence you have a 1d block ( someone wrote that ).
For me guard won't be the right.

Seems like a pretty offensive guard to me, superfast, mobile and weak waiting until the right moment to get in there and give a 2d to open up the cage or knock down the ball.
