Need help with my dark elf team!

Post by Redspade »

In the first week of the league Il lost my witch elf right before half and my thrower last play of the game. Both of them were killed, so I was stuck with little money, just enough to buy an apoth. All I hadd wered lineelfs and after the second game 3 had star player rolls. One of them rolled doubles, so should I take block like normal or make him my new thrower or what should I give him. The other two rolled another double and a normal roll.

thanks,

denjir

tsk tsk tsk...shouldn't have started the team with the thrower anyway, and the witch with av7 and no blk, not to mention 110k, was a bad call too.

now you don't have enough ff to make enough money, you are screwed my friend. good luck.

Anyways as to your skill choices. For the 2 doubles i would give leader and Pass, the ordinary skill would be block.

I'd take guard and try to keep him alive to get Block later. Right now you're just building for the future anyway.

Sean why leader, pass I understand.

Wetyl, dont you advise just to get all lineelves anyway.

Sskummy should both that rolled doubles take guard or just one.

I usually take 1 thrower and 1 witchelf and done good with the combo,,,,,, I have neveer lost both players in 1 match.

What player should I buy next I got 60000 off this game. I am figuring on saving and buying a blitzer.

Leader because most elven coaches need extra rerolls to deal with the Dreaded Elven Curse of 1's. Guard is nice but it will just put a target on him rite now.

for dark elves i advise starting 1bli, 10line, 2rr, 9ff, 10k treas...head start to apoth.

starting with the witch is bad because of the things i alluded to (av7, no blk, very expensive) they're a better purchase when they have more of a team to help them out.

the thrower is bad because of the reasons i've mentioned what seems like 100 different posts. it's better to give comps to line elves so that everybody gets a few spps, instead of giving all the comps to 1 thrower. that way whoever gets the mvp gets a skill, and the team has better overall development.

wes-Where do you put the blitzer on a flank to run downfield and harass backfield or put on line to help block?

Don't waste a doubles on Pass.

Guard and (possibly) Dauntless are much more useful skills; you can buy a new Thrower, with pass, later, and just play a running-shortpass-handoff game for now!

I agree with Redfang. Don't pick pass, you can buy a thrower later. Pick guard+guard+dodge.
Guard is to help the line and keep your players on their feet longer (you need it), and dodge because you need a player to be your ballholder. With dodge he can movearound more AND stand on his feet longer. Why not block? Well then you only get a player that can hit hard and stand on his feet, but not move around as much.

Guard for the line elves, kick for the normal skill.

Guard wont help too much right now, but give them Block next - and sidestep 3rd.

Kick is a big skill for elves as it helps slow the cage formation of the bashing teams, hopefully giving you a chance at an early turnover.

Go Guard all the way. :)

For a starting team I'd recommend 2 Blitzers, 9 Lineelves, 2 RR, 7 FF. I tried the WE and Thrower route myself and it turned out rather poorly. :(

I definitely agree that starting with a witch elf is a no-no. They are cool to play with but you need the reliability of other players first. After you've bought your apothecary, your next purchases should be two (or more) blitzers. My MBBL team now has four blitzers, seven line-elves, a witch-elf and a thrower. (And I've had three line-elves and a witch-elf die already.) Your blitzers have to be the mainstay of the team... they are your all purpose players who carry the weight of the team.

If you've got two line-elves who rolled doubles, give them both Guard. Having two of these will greatly help... remember the motto: "Two players of a particular type is a threat, one player is simply a target"!

The line-elf with a standard skill should probably get Block or Kick.

To answer denjir's question to Wesley, I would use the blitzer as a safety on defense and as my main scoring threat on offense. The crucial thing is to get him a skill and then start working on the other line-elves as well.

neither, actually. I put him in the middle of the field, 4 squares off the line. He then blitzes anybody who gets through, or helps plug gaps wherever the opponent goes.

if i put him on one flank or the other, the guy just sets up his offense on the opposite side. I would never put him on the line, no point giving your opponent free hits on your best player.

use his speed and skill to maximum advantage, but don't forget the rest of your team is competent as well...which is why it's ok to start your team with 10 of them! :)
