Troll slayer AG3

Post by duff »

Having rolled 11 on a TS, and with Pro already, what is the best "ecological niche" for Troll Slayer Eliot?
A ball handler (sure hands, Strip ball...)
Or the path of destruction (pile on, mighty blow...)
I've searched and the only advice I foound was weep :-?

Any player on a Dwarf team with AG+ is a blessing. The more ballcarriers on the field for them, the better.

I'd agree with that. A 5th AG3 player is not to be sneezed at.

You can also give him Strip Ball, so he has some chances to pick up that loosy ball after a block ... but remember he has to follow on any block he does, due to frenzy ...

just an idea ..

I'd be seriously tempted to take a regular skill instead of an AG increase on a trollslayer, but if you must...

I wouldn't try to tailor him down any particular path other than that he was born for - to hit stuff! - but just have the AG as an aid to that. So still give him standard trollslayer skills: tackle, mighty blow etc. The difference would be if you rolled a double I'd take dodge where normally I'd advocate stand firm. Dodge would allow him to sneak away from his opponent to hit someone else, not normally worth it because with poor AG you might as well play it safe and hit something your next to instead of trying to dodge about.

I wouldn't take strip ball - I consider Frenzy to be an adequate alternative, especially if you add tackle into the mix. Also it can lead you into problems if your opponent is pushed back and drops the ball and then you have to follow up, make another block then follow up again. You may end up with no tackle zones on the ball at all, and possibly your TS would have to dodge away or GFI to get back to the ball because of his Frenzy.

I'd take ag+1. It is very much needed.

Still develop him as a brawler type. Just be aware that you can now make reasonable dodge rolls and can try picking up the ball with him. :D

I'd take the AG+1...but Ball Handling? no. He's a Fullback. He has a better chance of dodging away to clear paths for your runners and blitzers.

I took Mighty Blow first on both my Slayers...because it seemed right according to the fluff. Strip Ball is a fun skill to combo with Frenzy. Tackle always useful. Guard allows him to frenzy into any cage and give an assist even though he's forced to follow up. Doubles is ALWAYS stand firm so he no longer has the fear of the crowd if you need to use him to push someone off the field with the associated forced follow up. Piling on could be fun and is another way of - partially - avoiding the sideline problem. Multiple block could just be FUN.
