Upcoming match: Humans (me) vs. Dwarf
Hey guys can anyone give me some general tips for playing Humans against Dwarfs? I have never played against them yet, so I'm not totally sure what to expect tactic wise.
My play style with humans is ball control. I usually play for a 2-1 win, scoring the winning TD late in the second half if that helps.
Thanks!

I probably wont work. You'll give the Dwarves too much time to get back into position and block the hell out of you.badash56 wrote:My play style with humans is ball control. I usually play for a 2-1 win, scoring the winning TD late in the second half if that helps.
Humans bash vs flair, and flair vs bash. A lot depends on the kickoff. If you can kick to him. If you turn him over great, if not try to force him to score giving you ~3 turns to equalise. Then in the 2nd half you can score in ~4 turns putting the pressure on him to try and score quickly.
What are the rosters like?

Echoing this idea, you want to force the Dwarven player to score as quickly as possible so you can receive, control the ball, and get a TD in return. When you kick to him you want to try and go one TD each, when you receive you want to try to go 2 TD's to his 1 TD.ianwilliams wrote:Humans bash vs flair, and flair vs bash. Speed is your best weapon.
Defence - If you have kick skill, I'd kick the ball somewhere near opponents end zone and run for it.
Offence - All in all, do not get into a block war (if possible). That suits the dwarves better than you. Try to break the line and run thro it with several players. Throw the ball and run

Thanks all,
Here is what my roster is like
3 Blitzers, 1 with mighty blow
1 Thrower, with dodge and block
8 Linemen, one with guard
It is still early in our season, and I have lost a few players already so it probably will be a tough game. So far I am 3-1.
I am not sure what his roster is like, haven't had a chance to see it yet.
Any other ideas how to play with this lineup? Thanks.

Ian told you the right tactic.
Your best advantage is your speed, you have got three players with MA 7, they may win the match for you.
Don't make follow up moves if it is not very important. Dwarves lying on the pitch are out of block distance for 1 turn, cause they have only one or two moves left (without go for its). Try to position your players that your opponent only gets one blitz in his turn. This is to avoid getting hurt by your opponent. Dwarves most need two have two or three players more on the pitch then their opponents to win the match
I hope you have a lot of re-rolls, cause you don't have any catchers in your team.
You should have given your thrower accurate and strong arm instead of dodge and block.

Well the match is over, and here is how it turned out:
My best chance at scoring came early in the first half, I had my new catcher running down the sideline, but he got blitzed by the dwarves and lost the ball. It was pretty much a stale mate after that, I had to use my apoth on a dead blitzer and then my catcher got knocked out with a serious injury. I was never able to get key blocks and couldn't control the game at all. Eventually the two halfs ended and we were locked at 0-0. Sadly we didn't have the time to play some OT (game had gone on for hours at this point lol) so we all decided to roll a D6 to determine the winner. Of course I lost the roll and the game.
Didn't get many spp, and on top of that I only got 20,000 in winnings.
Ah well. Up next are ORCS who are undefeated. Any ideas? They have got at least 40-50 points in team rating on me I know. Do I have a chance?

Fore sure you have a chance.
Against orcs you have to play a passing game or a running game to use your advantage; the speed.
Don't get into toe to toe fights with the orcs, they will hurt you. Try to give them only blitz action and no blocks.
We can help you out much better when we know something more about your opponents team.

Well the only thing I know about his team is that he used the plastic orc models from the box set to make his team. So it's pretty much a basic Orc team build. I also know he has one big guy, probably and Ogre.
The lineup I will have is the same as the one I posted above, my catcher has a broken jaw and must miss the game.
Do you have any good tactics for passing? I couldn't get it going against the dwarfs, and ended up getting knocked around the field.
Thanks again

You have only a thrower with AG 3 and no accurate or strong arm. This makes long passes or long bombs to risky.
Try to block and blitz a little pocket and keep your ball carrier (hopefully the thrower) in the back. If one of your blitzers is within scoring distance pass the ball (but only a short pass). But I think without any catcher your chance to do a succesfull pass and run offence is not good.
I always failed this because my blitzers or linemans don't catch the ball.
The dices do this every time to me
With my humans I run my offence on the side near the sideline (when my opponent has no frenzy). But I can't say more without knowledge what your opponents team looks like.
For general: You have to look at the roster of your opponents to make plans to win. You can see what playing style he likes most if you see the skill upgrades he gets. This brings you in position to play the opposite style. This won't work every time, sometimes it will fail.
