Re: A take on the Ogre team
I think block is better than tackle in doubles by far. On offense it's the same, it helps against 1/6 of the dice. And probably you will face more opponents with block than dodge. Dodge players normally already got block too, so block is mandatory over tackle, I think.
And also, block helps you on defense 1/6 of the blocks received too; tackle not.
So I dont advocate tackle as a first double.

Re: A take on the Ogre team
Well block doesn't increase your chance of success(knocking dudes over), tackle does.
I think it's kinda the break tackle logic, the ogres will fail stuff because they are stupid ogres no matter what you do but improving their chances of succeeding at important stuff like knocking over a blodge ball carrier gives them a chance to counter the fail with some success too.
It's true that ogres get punked by elves, but maybe having a surehands break tackle ogre ball carrier gives you a chance? Don't think I've seen that match-up yet. Just hope the wizard don't show up.

Re: A take on the Ogre team
I would definitely spend a double on a Tackle duder. Not the forst but maybe the 4th double.
I always skill a random Saurus with Tackle and its very cool to have and really quite essential for Ogres to have one.
I always start with 6 Ogres and no re-rolls.

I would generally agree. On Lizards, I always skill up two Sauri with Tackle / Break Tackle (before Block) to give me some mobile hitters who can also pull down Blodgers.
In principle, I think similarly making an ogre (on defense the middle safety) or two ogres (on defense in each wide zone) with Tackle could be worth it. But, Block is generally so valuable to the team, especially for your LoS ogres and doubles are so rare it's much harder to justify taking the Tackle before some Block guys. If you end up with three or four different ogres who double, then I'd say it's an easy choice. But Nuffle is rarely so generous

I could be right true, Im not saying the opposite. But only after some of them have block (if it happens) and not as a regular first double in every ogre.
Just my opinion. Block is like much much better. And you only got it with doubles...

Re: A take on the Ogre team
What's the general consensus on filling the roster as fully as you can afford to with snots?
I'm just asking as my new ogre team (4 ogres, 8 snots - 1 snot mng and apo) has 70k in the bank. My feeling is to save the cash until I can buy ogre 5 but would it be better to spend some/all on a snot bench?

Save for Ogres. 20k on a snot is 20k in the ko box and another body to steal the MVP off an ogre.

Re: A take on the Ogre team
It's a fine line to walk during an ogre team's first ten games or so. You want to save for six ogres as fast as possible, BUT you're almost guaranteed to lose if you don't have at least a 13 Players deep bench (especially if you only have four or five ogres, which means the snots will be even more vulnerable).Heff wrote:Save for Ogres. 20k on a snot is 20k in the ko box and another body to steal the MVP off an ogre.
Heff is right that 20k is 20k and it adds up fast, but if you're playing to win I'd be wary of going into a match with less than 13 players at this stage in the team's life (but certainly no need to fill out the entire roster with snots). I think 13 is the magic number. Once you've got six ogres and change to spare, I'd bump it up to 14 players.

Re: A take on the Ogre team
Assuming you don't get the fame and make average rolls, and don't win. You are 2 games away from the next ogre. Buy the snot and its 3 games or a bit of luck. I would suck it up l am afraid. Once you have all six and at least 4/5 re rolls then l would get snot happy. You have the magic 13 even with one out. (hey you can GUARANTEE one snot next match)

Re: A take on the Ogre team
Thanks for the advice guys. My cash will stay in the bank for now.
I've just noticed my next game is against underworld who are 260k TV above me so a star or 2 should ease the pain of having an 11 man squad.
