Diving catch is, I think, a waste of your time.

IMO the best reason to get HMP is basically as a "punt" play to move the ball out of danger.

Pass and Accurate are incredibly useful for moving the ball up to the line after a kickoff. The most vulnerable part of a dwarf drive is the first turn after the kickoff, where the opposition has the chance to isolate your runners in the backfield. Passing skills will ensure you can retrieve a deep kick and get the ball up to the chain of brotherhood as quickly as possible.

One thing I would suggest is Dump Off for runners. I've seen our champion Dwarf coach use it to frustratingly good effect.

DW - You'll get your chance in Amsterdam!

DD - Not decided yet. We're running a mini league over the summer while people are on holiday and stuff so I haven't had my decision rushed. It'll probably be Dauntless, unless we decide to start using the kicking rules then I'll give him Kick, because that will then require a doubles roll to pick up.

Marcus - Dump off is scheduled right after Block for my AG5 Runner I think....

AG5 RUNNER???? *faints* Ahh, to be so lucky!

Then again, I'm the proud possessor of a MV8 Runner, so I guess I can't complain too much. :D And AMEN! to Dump Off. Unless you have a Block/Dodge guy, Dump Off is awesome. Even then it's great for those pesky tacklers. I have one, though I have to say I've yet to need to use it. Luck is with me, it seems.

ive seen a 7428 troll slayer

the irony of it is that the team also has a:
6428 trollslayers
6339 blitzer
6339 blitzer
7348 runner
6429 longbeard

bj0rn - the fastest moving dwarf team alive...

ps. try out my chaos team where i have 2 beastmen with ag4 and another 2 with ag5!!! - fortunately my "luck" doesnt seem to affect my chaos warriors

Developing a runner into a passer stinks

First of all, are skills divided into skills and traits in the official rules? I dunno cuz we have a hodge podge rulebook. For a player to get a trait in my league, you havta roll doubles on the SSP table.

Early in the season, I rolled doubles for my runner and gave him Strong Arm (a trait) because I wanted to turn him into a thrower. Since then I've thrown the ball twice, only once successfully. Unless you use allies and have someone who has a good chance of catching the ball (i.e. decent agility and/or catch), I wouldn't bother developing a thrower.

For his second SSP, I gave him block. Wow. Talk about a nice skill for a runner (the only dwarf without it) to have. I wish I would have spent that first roll on dodge. Only then would I have played around with the idea of making him a thrower.

Just 2 cents from a first season rookie.
