Long term play

You know Goblins can be really competitive in a league, provided you are willing to accept huge casualities (I've had 20 deaths this season, including one of the big-guys.) and the curse of Goblin dice. (You just seem fated to roll a lot of "1's".) As it is now as soon as I could I got my Two Ogres for Big-guys, as that "eat-team-mate" can just kill your SPP's. Though I sometimes wonder if I have the most bone-headed Ogres in the history of Bloodbowl! In course of the league my record might suck, but I've got the most overtimes forced, and any win is pure bragging rights for weeks. In the end you find you'll have to save the apoth a lot in reserve to protect "key players", like the Big Guys and any Gobbo that actually starts getting more than two skills.

Now, though I never have lack of challenges, people actually fear playing this insane Goblin team, especially if we get into a "fouling" mood. :smoking:

The gobbo coach in our league has 12 casualties in 3 games, half of those caused by players were goblins. His Ball & Chain has been effective in creating a pocket in the middle and knocking out trouble makers but that's about it.

Maybe you're not using feral goblins from the Cave Squig leagues. They add spice to any team.

Well the TBBF doesn't let me use Squigs or even Secret Weapons, so I find the Little Green Guys have to really work on getting casualities into THEIR favour during a match. As of the latest match I've lost an entire roster to Death and am working on Team Two so to speak...if I added retired players then I am up to over a team and a half lost during the season. But that cheap price for players does help a lot, having one higher armour than the halflings does, in an odd way, give endurance.

The wierd advantage in the odd "fouling" wars is unlike the opponent I don't really care losing players as much as he does expense wise. Even his lowliest line-man is worth more! So picking on his "position" players can usually force them to re-think the tactic of fouling. I lose a 40K player? Big deal, he's out an 80K! He keeps that up there won't be much of a team for them to field down the season. (A problem one of our High Elf teams is currently suffering.) :smoking:

I prefer to kill your Gobbos the old fashioned way ;)

I'd like to get secret weapons in the league, we'll see at the end of the season.

i can see that the way to play these then is to go on to the field with a devil may care attitude, if you expect to loose 2 players a game them to lose 1 is a bonus

I just recently retired Kaos Kritters, my goblin team, from the FUMBBL. They retired at the peek of their career with a team rating of 202.

Some stats:

Games Played: 34
Record: 15 wins, 10 ties and 9 losses
TDs: 86 scored, 60 against
Casualties: 44 for (21/16/7) and 98 against (47/32/19)

Their roster can be seen at:

True when running a Goblin Team you do have to have a very warped sense of humour, and really be open to crazy tactics. Though if you end up staying alive, and heaven forbid start getting a core of real "Stars" then they become a constant threat in a league. The opponent can end up totally bewildered at just how to stop all these damn dodging stunties. (Though as my Norse rival points out, simply killing them tends to solve the problem.)

And it's quite the bonus when I crawl out of a match with either a win, or no fatalities. As you do plan on taking quite a lot of kills. (Now 21 this season alone and climbing.) Injures however don't bother me as much though, as with the Gob's stats sucking so badly to begin with, hell what's a few more? (Like playing one with every stat reduced by ONE...I finally retired him when he got his 2nd Niggler.) Most coaches complain bitterly at pretty much any Stat decrease, to me, it's just a glorified Snotling. :smoking:
