Hi...

Any one of you who have some good tactical advice, for Chaos Dwaf vs. Lizardmen. I play Chaos Dwarfs and the Lizardmen are all un exp.

Perhaps I should take out the Skinks, with my tackle skill, and put some tacklezones on the Sauruses(?).

I hope you will give me some response!!!

Hit the skinks hard. Without them the Lizzies find it really hard to move the ball.

Try to keep a reasonably solid cage with CD's on opposite corners - to reduce the odds of skinks getting next to the ball carrier and if they do whacking them.

As for tieing down the Saurus - you'll probably want to keep your CD's free to take on the skinks. So a lot depends on how many TRRs he has. If he only has 1 or 2 pin them down - especially the ones without Block and hope he burns his TRRs up quickly.

I've gotta agree. Hit the linemen card and keep them down. That'll shut down moving the ball around and slow the game up. The saurus are touch but if you foul when ever you get the opportunity it might help. The lizards are a pretty good team and having just started playing them lately I can see why they do well in tournaments. Even unskilled they're a force to be reckoned with. Made the Undead and Orcs look like a bunch of girls when it comes to dealing damage and scoring.

Pit the chaos dwarves against the skinks and the hobgoblins and bull centaurs against the sauruses, and you'll win. Do the opposite (or let him do the opposite) and you'll lose.

It's pretty simple.

Wow. I would love a game where the chaos dwarf player wants me to slaughter hobgoblins with my saurus.

I thought it was you, Zombie, who wrote in another thread that hobbos should care about the ball and not BC.

So who is going to pick up the ball if no hobbo is left?? :o

No, that wasn't me. I always said that bull centaurs make great scorers, and i use mine as such.

I was talking about defense. On offense, it's plain and simple for chaos dwarves: a bull centaur with the ball surrounded by a cage.

On defense, your main concern is the skinks, not the sauruses. Your main priority is to get your MA4, ST3, AV9, Block, Tackle, Thick skull guys one on one against the MA8, ST2, AV7, Dodge, Stunty ones. It's the most perfect fit i could ever think about. It seems like chaos dwarves blockers were made to counter skinks... if only they can get a hold of them!

Hence the reason for using hobgoblins and bull centaurs on the sauruses, to keep them busy while slaughtering the skinks. Hobgoblins will fair much better against the sauruses than skinks will against chaos dwarves, since they don't get +1 on injury, and the sauruses don't even have block.

Sorry, Zombie, I must have meant someone else.

Unfortunately, i can't find the specific thread I had in mind any more. Maybe later....

An interesting matchup indeed. And yes, a really tough time for all skinks out there.

However, Lizzies can score in two turns and could try so against the CDs. If things work out, the Cd coach will have one blitz against a skink and then be on offense again. Not much defense and punishing there...

So for the CD it depends more on playing offense properly. And I don't know whether there is so much time to slaughter skinks if your ball carrier has to be protected...hobbos won't stand and fight long. If you loose the ball, this could cost you the game. So better not take any chances. And to play a high scoring match is surely not what you want with CDs.

Indeed i played these two teams last inght ended up as 2-2, the lizzies scored against me both within 2 turns, this did leave me 7 turns to equalize and I had a tough time doing it.

I used the dwarfs to hold up the saruas, their av9 holds up a lot better and the hobbos still get 2 die blocks on the skinks, hell my hob with tackle killed a skink. I also used the bulls whereever was handy to put them. On the last turn of match his krox did 2 die on one my my choas dwarf, double both down, i had block seriour inj and then he got -ag, amused me :)

Beating Lizards:

1) Take out Skinks at all costs.

2) Defensive setup crucial if Skinks available...make them make as many 3+ rolls as possible (Pick Up, Hand Off).

3) Once Skinks gone, Lizardmen lose.

Of course, especially if the Lizard Coach is good, taking out the Skinks is not real easy. Make them score quickly, and punish them if they don't. Once you get the ball, do everything you can to take out the Skinks. Mighty Blow is the skill of choice vs. Skinks. My Orcs played the best Lizard team in our League this past weekend, and lost in OT. Still, he managed to keep 2 Skinks available, and had to make tough rolls without any Rerolls left (3+ pickup, insane blocks, and the final 4+ handoff, and Dodge for the TD)

You can't stop everything. Thus why the Lizzies are a quality team.

yup once the skinks are gone there is no ball carrier left. just watch out for the saurus as they make great blitzers, (that can't carry the ball) :D
