My norse´s Ogre just got his first skill...
...and he got a +1 MA.
My question is: Would you fire him?

Give him break tackle next and turn him into a ball-carrier? But on the other hand, you have other players to carry the ball - Ogre should be doing his job in your team, i.e. to be in the line. With the AV your other players have it's good to have him there. It's also a good chance to lower your TR if you fire him. In the end it depends whether you're able to find good use for him with that movement.

Well, suddenly all those MV6 teams (say Norse and 'Zons anyone?) can no longer out run him, and it'll shock your opponents when he moves that extra square to blitz the ball carrier. Teach them not to study your roster closely.

Replace him with a new one as soon as you feel you have the money...
I mean if you have enough money there's no reason to wait for a ma+ ogre to gain a further 10 SPP than for a new one to get 6 SPP. In long terms the new player will be much better...
Also ogre's really need block as the first skill

Rather than thinking "Damn, I haven't got block", think of what he can do instead.
Hell, he can score a TD in 2 turns with only 1 GFI now.

Fire the Ogre and get a new one.
Ma is useless, all and Ogre does is stand in the fronline and Throw a Block at the end of the turn until he get both Block & Pro.
Someone said keep him for Blitzing... The must be smoking something good to rely on a Big Guy with none of Block, Tackle, StripBall, or the ability to Re-Roll, oh, and the fact you wont get to Blitz at all for that turn 1/6th of the time...
Guess I had a point in there somewhere.

Yep, the risks involved with the Ogre are pretty high. Even though the route of a block/shadowing/ma6/breaktacle-ogre is tempting, I'd probably admit that the best use for him on a Norse team is to offer that AV9 to the line instead of one of the squishy linemen. So fire him and give him block first.

DONT FIRE HIM!!!!
Damn it, my Orge for my Bunny team (Female humans) got +2M, now she is a strength 5 blitzer!!
plus its great to see you opponet count 5 squares away from his ball carrier, then moves the extra two, and you just walk right up, one sprint roll and slap that ball carrier to the next plane.
Dont think of Big guys as your LoS kings, remember, you have a fast moving wall of muscle. My ogre is never on the LoS. instead on offence, i use her to break holes in the widezones for my catchers to walk through, and on defence she sits 5 squares from the TD line, it never fails to amuse you when you see you opponent stop and think about sprinting he ball carrier just out of reach of your blizters, and straight in to range of the M7 Ogre
Try not to build your team around them, build them around your team, at the end of the day, now you have a good defence (just keep two linemen back one each side) and you can consentrate all your blitzers on offence, rather than having to make "Blockers" out of them.
BTW Priness (the Ogre) has only got two skill advances, so she hasent got block, but it wont be long!

Block + Piling On = Unholy Terror on an Ogre (or any Big Guy). Sure, you may still go Stupid, etc., but when you don't, EXPECT a Knock Out at LEAST. Since they already have Mighty Blow, they can single handedly take out a line. If you are worried about fouling, don't; with such high armor, you can take up 3+ opposing players with him alone. If your opponent wants to risk TOs and losing players off the pitch AND for the game, let them. Considering Ogres ALSO have Thick Skull, you force your opponent to focus on him, or suffer the consequences...but he is VERY hard to deal with.
+5 to armor break and +1 to Injury is deadly. Very deadly. Once they master knocking people down (ie Block skill), Piling On is what you give them.

casualities per match!)
