I'm playing Skaven first season in a long running league (first season is 10 games, and then a possible 4 game post season), then on to the majors with lots of strong teams.
I've been having some trouble defending against elves specifically, and dark elves in particular.
I have a game upcoming against high elves. Our TV's are almost identical (1200 vs 1220: http://www.thunderbowl.ca/tbsn/index.ph ... t&mid=2536).
Any suggestions for defense vs elves? How do I protect my players while keeping him from scoring?

Re: Skaven defense vs elves
Dark/High Elves are hard for Skaven in my experience. Especially if you only have 11 players. On the plus side you have a one turner so at least a draw should be attainable if you can keep him safe. Only use him when you need to though, scoring in one turn to give them at least 2 to score back is asking for trouble.
Your best hope is outblocking and outpositioning him, which will be very hard IMO. You lack all the classic elf-beating tools: Block/Sidestep/Diving Tackle gutters (why did you take Fend?), Wrestle/Strip Ball Gutter or a Rat Ogre. If he gets the ball to a Blodger and builds a loose cage around it you're in serious trouble.
Your odds look so badly (unless you know your opponent is crap and you can outposition/block him) I would advise fouling every time you can get enough assists to get him down to AV 4.

Re: Skaven defense vs elves
Thanks for the advice.
I like fend on the gutter because it helps keep him alive, and negates Piling on, which is another huge problem in our league.
I do have a wrestle gutter runner (just skilled him up).
Part of my problem is my skilled players keep sucking up MVP's which keep all my skills in one place.
Unfortunately my opponent is also quite skilled, so I certainly am hoping for some dice to throw my way.

Fortunately, he's only got one blodger. If he goes down for any reason, you know what to do
don't forget you've got two blodgers yourself (+1 dodge + wrestle), and he has no tackler, so he will also have a hard time bringing your GR down (except they are ST2 for sure, but they are fast)
good luck, tough game but far from unwinnable
