Skaven at theDutch open

I've posted this already at BBT, but since the audience there is much smaller than here, I'm cross-posting.

So I'm going to another tournament, this time a bit more low key: the Dutch Open!

Standard 1100 TV Resurrection format, 6 matches, one normal skill added after each match, no more than one skill/player.

I'm going with Skaven, and I wonder what the best setup is:

a): 1 Ratogre, 2 Blitzers, 3 Gutter Runners, 1 Thrower, 5 linemen 3 Rerolls, 2 FF

b): 1 Ratogre, 2 Blitzers, 4 Gutter Runners, 1 Thrower, 5 linemen 2 Rerolls

c): 1 Ratogre, 2 Blitzers, 4 Gutter Runners, 1 Thrower, 4 linemen 2 Rerolls, 1 Apo

d): 2 Blitzers, 4 Gutter Runners, 1 Thrower, 5 linemen 4 Rerolls, 2 FF, 1 AC, 1 CL

e): 2 Blitzers, 4 Gutter Runners, 1 Thrower, 6 linemen 3 Rerolls, 1 APO

f): Something else entirely (and if so, what)

I guess it will be either a) or e), but I wonder what others think.

Furthermore, skills. Guard on at least one Blitzer, Tackle on the other? Wrestle or Tackle on one Gutter Runner? Block on at least one, maybe two Gutter Runners? Guard, Break Tackle or Juggernaught (or nothing at all) on the Rat Ogre (if I do take it)? Block or Accurate (or nothing) on the Thrower? These are my ideas, but again, I don't know, so any help would be appreciated, also on the order of skill-taking.

Thanks already!

P.S.: Darkson, thanks for your answer on BBT. :D

The ratogre can make or break your team. Just be prepared to have it f*ck up at the worst possible moment, or get KO-ed some time.
It's also expensive, but it MIGHT be a hell of a cage breaker.
Personally, I wouldnt use one.

Otherwise:
RO,
2 sv,
4 gr,
1 thr,
4 linos.
1100
3 rerolls
no apo.
or swith the apo with your 4th lineman.

My choice (I think, rosters are on other 'puter):
2 stormvermin
4 runners,
1 thrower,
6 linemen
1 apo,
3 rerolls

13 man, nice and fluffy. That way you can throw a rat or 2 to something big and scary but still have a full bench halfway through the match.
And fouling is an option then.

Good luck, and see you then. I'll be at the higher numbered tables after a match or 2... playing 'Flings. :D

Rat Ogre
4x Gutter
Storm Vermin
6x Linerat
Apothecary
3x RR

---

Most important skill (in my Skaven playbook): Sure Hands on a Gutter Runner.

Good luck 8)

wrestle on a runner is good too, as is block.
dont skill the throwers, you will use them for short passes most time anyway.

If you've doubles available for the Rat Ogre you may want to consider Claw instead of Block.

I can't say I'm a fan of the Rat Ogre, and I'd probably go with e.

No doubles IIRC.
Skill progression

After each game you can give one chosen player one skill normally available to that player.

Unless Dave e.a. decide otherwise... :(

JaM is right; no doubles. So no Rat Ogre is probable the wisest then. Ok, I'll think I go with option 'e' (2 blitzers 4 GR's, 1 Thrower 6 linerats, 3 RR 1 Apo) then!

Definitely Block on one GR & Wrestle on another, Guard on one Blitzer, Guard/Tackle on the other, depending on the Bash/Agility spread, and Tackle/Strip Ball on a 3rd GR, unless I find I really need Sure Hands.

Oh and good luck with those 'flings JaM, I'll see you there! :D

Sure! Good luck!

One thing though: the RO gives you an 'easy' option to get a 1ttd. Just a push or 2 are enough, and frenzy will give you that.
Sidestep on a GR is also good, makes one turning also a possibility.

Kick is also nice, perhas on the thrower. A well placed kick and a fumbled pick up will likely give you a defensive TD...

Just some food for thought! :)

Well, the first day has passed, and so far I'm doing pretty decent, with one win (poor, poor Condor :P ) and two draws. :)

Played v.s. Norse, Dwarfs & Chaos Dwarfs, so lots of Block to deal with. I found that I could slow the cage down fairly easily, but that it's really hard to actually take the ball from a good cage. More risk-taking will be needed, I think.

I took Kick (on a lineman) after the first match which worked great, then Wrestle (on a Gutter Runner, of course) after the second match, which has yet to do it's magic. Waiting to take my third skill until I know what my opponent will be. Probably either Guard on a Blitzer or Block on a GR.

But most importantly, I had a lot of fun! :D

On to day two, and glorious victory!

So, tourney over, won one and lost one (from the eventual winner) on day two, and had a (tied) high score in TD's, so yay for me!

took Guard on a SV as the 3rd skill and Tackle on the other SV as the 4th one.

I found I did well without the Rat Ogre, that having 2 spare players really helps, that dodging into a cage with a GR with Wrestle and 2d against blitzing the ballcarrier can be surprisingly effective (though Strip Ball would probably have been even better), that Kick is great, and that all elves need to die die die and die some more! 8)

Onwards to Madhobbit! :D
