Am I being too defensive?

Hi Guys,

I have played BB table top for a long time now starting with Dwarves then moving to Humans and now Necro.
I started a new league recently with the Necro and I am finding that I am scoring less than my opponents overall (I scored 15 TD in 11 matches vs (for example) a chaos team scoring 20+ in 11 or ; I won't include elves in this as they are freaks with AG4 and will always score TDs). To balance though I do have the best defensive record in the league with 6 conceeded in 11 games and won the division 7 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss. The question is am I playing the game too defensively with my teams? I have never really scored more than 2 a game and rarely score 3 (even on the cyanide game) during a match.

My team has:
2 wolves: blodge (one with MB) scored 8TDs between them,
2 Golums: 1x block
2 wights: both guard 1 has scored 3 TDs
2 Ghouls: 1 x sure hands & scored 4 TDs
Zombies (one blocker)

I normally will get the ball wait for the opponent to over commit and then rush passed with wolves/wights/ghouls. Normally I get a 1-0 win, 2-0 win or a 1-1 draw. The game I lost was a 2-0 loss and I went for a quick 2 turn TD just to be walloped the ball stolen and I had overcommited so I couldn't get back.
Then he scored in his half as well. It was all too easy for him.

What is the general consensus? How many would you normally score with a running team?

Cheers

Ummie

In my experience, 2 TDs a game is a tad bit above average. And if you've been playing dwarfs it's going to lower that as they usually only score closer to 1 TD a game.

I think you're fine.

The most important thing is that you have only lost one game. It doesn't seem like a good idea to drastically alter a style of play that has been successful for you.

EDIT: superdull redundancy

Ideally 2. 1 8 turn drive on my half, 1 turnover + stalling out rest of the half on his.

I forgot to add this to my post. +1 to this.

I think your doing fine. Winning is more important than scoring a lot. My tt chaos dwarves had an average of 1.7 scored tds vs 1.0 conceeded tds over 22 games.

It all depends on your play style. Your league win-to-loss ratio is the only really meaningful indicator. If anything, most coaches will probably claim that you should not ever really score more than two touchdowns because you should protect and stall for as long as possible (I tend to disagree, but there are certainly lots of different schools of thought on the matter).

Necro are one of the best defensive sides to begin with, and below average on offense. So I think you are playing to your team's strengths.
