3rd Skill on a Minotaur

Hello all,

I just got a 3rd skill on my Chaos Dwarf Minotaur and rolled a double. I'm in a quandry as to what to pick. He currently has Juggernaut and Stand Firm. The two normally appealing choices are of course, Block and Claws. However, my league has a house rule where you can get rid of a negative trait on a double, so I could potentially ditch Wild Animal. Any thoughts?

Block. As Wild Animal isn't as much a nega-trait as other nega-traits and it will also make him a much more effective blitzer to pair with juggernaut. Break Tackle would have been a lot better skill choice than stand firm, but what's done is done.

Regardless, definitely take block.

Block.

Makes for a mutch better hitter.

Or if you already have juggernaut maybe tackle. Stops those dodgers and on blitz you'll push back and smack again.

I'd lose Wild Animal. Turns your Mino into a very reliable blitzer AND roadblock. You already have Jugs to prevent turnovers when blitzing.

On reflection, lose wild animal. I lose more mino time to unreliability than skulls. The ability to move without needing a 4+ is a lot better!

I guess I'm missing something. He doesn't have break tackle + he does have stand firm + moving a Minotaur is a massive liability = why would you do it without blitzing?

He needs to be on the LOS, with block, killing all mens. Block is a much more useful skill as that beast became a road block the moment he was given stand firm.

I’d drop Wild Animal for sure as it is one of the most crippling negative traits.

Any time he doesn’t have someone next to him or worse is prone prone you either have to use the blitz (which will fail 1 in 6 times) or risk a 50/50 shot to use him. Once Chaos get a few skills the beastmen quickly end up more deadly and more reliable than a mino so are better options for a blitz. That’s why few high TV chaos teams bother with them.

Minos are actually pretty fragile so this means you have more control over him too.

Not sure it makes much difference (I still feel lose WA), but this is a Chaos Dwarf mino.

I'd loose loner allows you to use those rerolls

I'd definately remove a negatrait, but not sure which is worse... Probably wild animal. You have juggernaut and should be able to get 3D blocks and luckily tripple skulls are rare (even though I did get one having induced Grashnak with my chaos dwarves) and what else than block do you want to use rerolls for?

Stand firm isn't that bad together with frenzy and juggernaut, then you have a really nice crowd surfer. Break tackle next.

I wouldn't leave him on the LOS, your dwarves are perfect for that role. He is strong but soft when he goes down.

Removing loner is more flexible. While I agree triple skulls are rare thinking on progression with break tackle as a next skill you can re-roll the dodge, it means you can reroll one or 2 die blocks where a single or double skull is more likely, and it means you can if vital reroll wild animal. As you can guess I HATE loner. Though agree with it on mercs and stars I think that big guys would train with (or be trained by) their team so think it is a double penalty ontop of negatraits. I like the potential to remove on a double shame it's only a house rule in certain leagues.
