Chaos Dwarf Inducement and Skill Questions

Post by Rewslaun »

Greetings,

I have a Chaos Dwarf team (Darkland Berserkers) that has 210k worth of inducements and I'm not sure how I want to spend it. My team consists of 2 Bull Centaurs, 6 Blockers, 4 Hobgoblins and 3 Rerolls. After opening the season with a 2-0 win over a rookie Dwarf team I was able to level up one of the BC's and I think I'll give him Break Tackle.

The team I'm playing is Vampire. His roster is 4 vamps (2 of them with Dodge) and 7 Thralls (4 of them leveled up with Block x 2, Wrestle, Kick), 4 Rerolls.

I was thinking of going with Break Tackle on my first BC over Block. My thinking is the extra mobility will come in handy as I try to score all my td's with the Bulls.

For the inducements I'm leaning towards an extra reroll and an apothecary reserved for my Bull Centaurs. I'm waffling though as I think some of the 50k cards could give me an extra boost.

What are your thoughts? Any suggestion is appreciated.

I wouldn't worry too much about damage on your players; he has no MB/PO/Claw and you have AV9 on anyone that counts. Also, 3 rerolls should be enough. I'd take Nobbla Blackwart (A Blodge Chainsaw should be able to rip up some Vamps) and either a BWB or a card just for teh lulz! I'd also take Block instead of Break Tackle first on the BC, but that's just a personal thing.

Wiz and Magic Item for my blood. 50k card is 50% to be useful: compared to Babe, with all your Thick Skull, that's pretty good.

You could take cards to spice up the game.

The more expensive the card the more impact it will have.

Agree with Matt and Jimmy. 3 rerolls is plenty and bulls can handle themselves pretty well, no need for special apo service. Bash thralls and be careful of hypno gaze, standard cages are of no use against vamps.

Thanks for the feedback. I've decided to go with Block over Break Tackle on the Bull Centaur. My thinking is that I'm trying to level up the unskilled one so it would make more sense to use the other one to blitz as often as possible.

I tend to be too cautious when it comes to inducements. I'll often go with extra apothecaries and rerolls. I'm not willing to use a star player at this time because I don't want them hogging the SPP. I'm going to take your advice and go with the wizard and a 50k card. With regards to the Wizard do you recommend using the fireball when he has 5 or more players in a tight group or saving it for when he's about to score and hit him with Lightning?

Cheers

->Wizard: There is nothing wrong striking the ball carrier down with a lightning, picking up the Ball with a Bull (75% with RR) and running away *G*. If he builds a cage, then use the fireball and your Blitz to free the ball. Pick it up with a Bull and say goodbye...

For your opponent its a nightmare loosing the ball to an ST4 and MV6+3 player, when all his players are marked by dwarfs or hobgoblins! Even if he blitz your Bull and takes him down, then you are able to stand up, blitz, pick up the ball and move some fields...therefore Block and Break Tackle for Bulls.

I'm not confident when it comes to the fireball. The last time I tried it I knocked 1 guy down out of 6 and the time before that I couldn't knock anyone down. So I may have to stick with the Lightning.

Pick your poison. This season in NBFL, I'm 1-for-2 with lighting and one hit for five chances with fireball. You just have to accept that inducements fail sometimes. I recommend using whichever one will give/save you the game when you need it.

I'd go with 100k in cards and a bribe. You want to work those thralls over so he has no one to bite.

Save the Wizard for when it will guarantee you a TD or possession to stop a TD. Don't use it just because players are clumped. Also, don't use it if it gives you no realistic shot at stopping the TD (EG he's got a double cage on T7 and you won't be able to get the ball unless there are some favorable bounces.)

It depends. If you want guarantees, the bolt is good, but a good vamp player can use passing and handoffs to score without ever really exposing themselves to wizard danger....and with a ST 4 blodger carrying the ball, a fireball is too risky if it misses the carrier.

With Gaze, they can recover it from anywhere, which is a major pain (normally, bolt it, and even if you can't retrieve it you can make it a pain to get it back).

I'd say to fireball iff you get 5+ players with the ball in the 3x3 and you are somewhere near by. If a situation like that doesn't appear, bolt is good.

If I could fireball 5+ thralls I would if I had already scored and had the ball or could get it without the lightning bolt.
