2nd skill Witch Elf

My Witch Elf just earned her second skill roll and I rolled a normal skill.
I am not quite sure what skill I should choose.

She already has Block/Dodge/Jump Up/Frenzy.
I would go with Leap/Tackle/Diving Tackle oder perhaps Shadowing.

I already got one witch in defensive line with:
Block/Dodge/Jump Up/Frenzy/Leap/Diving Tackle/Tackle
and 2 Blitzers, both with Strip Ball...

So should I go offensive or defensive with her???

thanks for your comments on this topic :P

Side step - then it doesn't matter if you end up by the side line.

I'd follow up with tackle next.

I agree entirely with Ian. You can use the witch elf to blitz people off the pitch and don't have to worry about joining them the following turn.

I find Shadowring to be a great defencive skill, especially if you got abow average movement. Watch you opponent desperatly try to get away from yuo TZ and just laugh, ofcause if you combine it with tackle its just evil

I think Shadowing is more appropriate for one of your blitzers - you get four of them after all. The blitzers have the same MA as witch elves, so Shadowing is equally effective with both, but the blitzers have higher AV so are likely to survive longer when the Shadower is hit to remove him.

Tackle is a very good skill as well..all my witch elves have it for their 2nd skill unless they roll doubles or upgrade.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Catch, I usually use the witch elves as the receivers on offence, so catch is fairly important, yes/no.

I don't think catch is a good early skill for an AG4 player. Catching on 2+ means you rarely fail anyway, and if marked can normally either clear the opponents away and/or dodge out of any TZ's. Team rerolls should be enough to handle the odd occassion that I fail the catch roll.

Unless I'm developing an interceptor (PB and Catch) then catch is a long way down the list.

Also I think that witch elves will get enough SPPs without encouraging it, so I'd prefer keeping them as blitzer types.

I see your point Ian, but with elves being very expensive, I usually find myself lacking of team re-rolls, therefore Catch is very useful.

If you use your w-elves as blitzers, do you develop receivers at all, perhaps lineman?

Dunno about Ian, but I develop my witch elves as blitzers (Block, Side Step, Tackle, and MB on doubles) and two of my blitzers become catchers (Dodge, Catch, Sure Feet, and NoS on doubles).

Not really. If I get the chance I may take NoS or similar but I find defensive skills much more important than offensive ones. Elves don't (or shouldn't) have too much trouble scoring.

Never really thought of it like that, you make a good point.

I agree with ian. I think its best to stock up on the defensive skills when building a dark elf team. The offensive scores are going to come regardless, it seems those defensives scores always the one that decide the match. Tackle is a can't miss with frenzy, but if your in a pass heavy league maybe consider pass block. In a bash league then maybe sprint and make a long distance blitzer/ball hawk that can out run those pesky chaos dwarf linemen. As far as catch for a WiE, I used to pass a lot with the Dark Elves, but after countless '1' drops, I started running the ball and found they are probably better suited to that style of play.
