1st Skill for Orc Lineman with Chainsaw (double 6!)

Hi, my orc lineman got 2 cas and an MVP in his first game, for his skill i rolled double 6. i was wondering, what would be a good skill to give him, or to take to the plus 1 ST?

+1ST = More two dice blocks (my favour) when he is sitting in the back field with the odd pesky runner.

Frenzy = But could i use the chainsaw twice?? (i dont think you can but its worth asking! :)

Any comment are very welcome!!

Thanks!

I hate giving up +ST, but with the chain saw it may be worthwhile.

I think its quite suspect using any skill in conjunction with the Chainsaw - you definitely can't use Frenzy and I'd get your commish to rule on using Piling On or other skills. You probably can't use PO either as you have to have knocked your opponent down to use it. MB is a good choice though, and would actually generate more casualties and KOs than PO anyway.

If you do want a different skill I'd suggest dodge - it makes it harder for you to fall over (and you are effectively Av6) and means you have a better chance of reaching your intended target. +ST also makes it harder for your opponent to knock you over too.

I'd take the ST increase. The guy with the chainsaw is a target... if you can knock him down he suffers the same modifier as does someone he attacks with a chainsaw (since chainsaws are awfully dangerous). So you don't want him knocked over and higher ST will help.

Cheers,
Martyn

The chain saw isnt a skill, its a thing, i already asked about this, and everyone is happy for it (after all it leaves the chain saw on the floor!)

I suppose it would be nice to get him block and dodge, but MB sounds good as well...... soo many options......

*Goes off to www.bloodbowl.com to have a ganda at the LRB*

Sometime in the future, Pro is also a must.

Hell yea, just had a brain wave...... :?:

..... Multiple Block :o ...... you can chop two people, sure it adds their St together, BUT you dont use ST with a chain saw, you just go straight to armour roll....... its a LoS killer

Muhahahahahahahah!!!

Take the strength or Pro.

calm down everyone. everything is fine, breathe deeply.

you can´t use skills like mighty blow or piling on with a chainsaw. or frenzy or multiple block or any other skills at all for that matter.

a chainsaw attack is made instead of a block, it´s not a block.

while the thought of a multiple chainsaw attack may be appealing to certain deranged individuals (it certainly is to me :D ), unless your commish is braindead it will never happen.

anyway, st+1 is the way to go.

ps: come on, did you really think you could pile on after a chainsaw attack and get +3st +3chainsaw bonus? :o

There are two issues here. First, does attacking with a chainsaw count as a block for the purposes of Multiple Block? Chansaw says you can attack instead of blocking, and MB can only be used on a block.

Even if you can attack both of them, the rule is on pg 34 of the living blood bowl rulebook says:

"1. You can't add bonuses from two or more skills/traits to modify an Armour or injury roll"

Now I guess the question is whether an illegal weapon counts as a skill for these purposes.

I would say that a weapon is not a skill (hence why one the star player cards Nobble Black wart has it under special and not skills or traits.

So its not a skill nor is it a trait. and i uderstand that its not a block, so the only really effective skill to give a chainsaw person is.... DP as it CAN be used on the foul so it +3 armour (chainsaw) and +2 Inj for DP

Other than thats its just PRO and blodge........ well thats a big boring!! :(

besides the rules argument, a chainsaw is a very dangerous thing in the real world, let alone one in warhammer. Do you really think you can effectively jump on someone with a roaring chainsaw in your hand, without getting injured yourself! I have the same problem with multiple block, mighty blow, piling on etc. combo's. It's just to much!

I agree with shlominus on all accounts

GO for strength you'll regret it later if you don't

A Chainsaw is used in place of a block. NO skills can be used with a Chainsaw attack ever.

Good Skills for Chainsaw players:

PRO!!!!!! ... get to reroll starting the chainsaw
Block
Dodge
Stat increases.

Take the ST increase THEN take Pro next.

well it doesnt say that you cant use skills with a chainsaw, all it says is it isnt a "straight forward block" ie, a different block, an attack.

So if you was to foul someone with DP and a chainsaw, you would definatly get +3 aromour (chainsaw) and +2 for DP, as it says with DP you have learnt all the dirty little tricks when hitting people when they are down, bit like aiming a running chainsaw at someones gonads might in some cases be seen as a dirty little trick (or down right mean)

"A player armed with a chainsaw is allowed to use it to attack other players instead of making a normal block."

So its still a block, just not using block dice, i.e not a normal block.

Not in either of my leagues, and I'm betting not in an official GW tournament either.
