Norse Blitzer Development

Hi there,
so now its done. My Norse team played their first three friendly games to get ready for the next season

.
Its the first time i ever play the norse, so some advice would really be nice. i usually planned to give all of my 4 blitzers piling on first but now i m not sure if i could live without guard. On the other hand the frenzy trait doesnt make guard really good and the combo of guard and piling on isnt good either. Do you think its possible to give them piling on and then mighty blow and stay without guard?
So how to develop those for nice berserkers?
Thanks for every advice.

As much as I hate to say it, all your blitzers should take PO. With Jump-Up, Block, and Frenzy it is simply too good to pass up for a young Norse Blitzer trying to get those SPP (not to mention you don't have to use it if it doesn't break the armor). In our house league we have a team with 4 PO Blitzers with M.B. and they are simply sick. Last game they played they scored 10 cas against a human team. They can't do much with the ball, but it doesn't matter when the opposition can only field 3 guys. As the coach in our league said with "With Norse, its kill or be killed." So take your Norse and kill.

Do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars. Take Piling On. Only deviate if you roll doubles, and then still heavily consider Piling On. With Jump Up it doesn't really matter that he's on the ground.

Develop 2 as PO/MB/Tackle. The other 2 should go for Guard/MB/Tackle.
Look for some doubles on linemen and get Guard on them instead though.
Beware of PO with all 4 blitzers though, someone will foul.

You'll get fouled with 1 PO Blitzer.

The only way to outpace the fouling is to stack the PO. With 1 PO blitzer you use it every time he blocks, and then he gets subsequently fouled. If you have 4 PO blitzers (and maybe a PO minotaur) they can only foul one of them. With 5 PO players (w/o doubles) you *will* win attrition, even against a DP. If you've got your own DP or two as well... you're really sitting pretty.

I would first give all my blitzers PO (did only do this on 3 and regrets that) and then do as Darkson said.
And if you get any doubles on linemen you give them guard, no exception.

Oh i forgot to say that in our houserules you ll have to use PO before you roll the armor dices.
So still PO on all four blitzers?

But espacially then 4 will be better then 2 or not?
The DP only can foul one of them. And if the DP is one of the first PO targets then its not too dangerous to have 4 blitzers down...
Yep taking PO on all four blitzers makes a lot of sense but i m just not sure if a can mess up with other teams if i dont take guard. But on the other hand if you use frenzy and PO in a good way then it may be possible to go without guard?

That's difficult. If you didn't have Jump Up, its a definate no. With Jump Up its more debateable as you are less bothered about going prone. You will still be getting more players off the pitch with PO, but there is much greater tactical risk.
I'd be tempted to mix and match more - so give a couple PO, and a couple guard.

Unless your league is heavy on sure hands, it should be a good idea to give one or two of them strip ball (but that comes from a Norse coach who want to give their linemen passblock and tackle, if possible). Strip ball combined with frenzy means that you can knock the ball loose and then push the tacklezone away from the ball.

Maybe it is just becaue I play with a bunch of uncivilized brutes, but if there are any players on the pitch, fouling will occur.

Who are you calling an uncivilized brute? You would kick memebers of your own family if they happened to fall down in front of you....just out of habit.
27 Casualties in the last 3 games with my Norse...

Ups, shame on me

,
thats not the actual rule we use...
we re playing with the LRB, so decide to use PO after the armor roll.
Sorry!
So it looks like the PO way is good way huh?..
