New Human Team
The New Orc Team information were quite helpful.
NOw I'd like a decent Human starting line-up.
Either a link, if this has been discussed before or some short information how to begin with!
FF 9 and many RRs!
THX!

My personal opinion, for whatever it's worth, is that it's better to start with more Block and "built in" rerolls (pass, sure hands, dodge, catch, etc.) than to start with a large number of TRR's. This isn't usually possible with the more expensive teams, but since the Human team is relatively cheap I would rather focus on having more position players than TRR's. My suggestion would be:Now I'd like a decent Human starting line-up. Either a link, if this has been discussed before or some short information how to begin with! FF 9 and many RRs!
4 Blitzers (360k)
3 Catchers (210k)
2 Throwers (140k)
2 Linemen (100k)
FF: 9 (90k)
TRR: 2 (100k)
If you want to have a guy on the bench I would suggest removing a Blitzer and subtracting one from your FF to give you the money to add two Linemen.

Here's the line up I started with in the OBL:
5 Linemen
2 Throwers
3 Blitzers
1 Ogre
4 Rerolls
2 FF
Here was my rationale:
Catchers are, early on, as much of a liability as they are a help. S2, AV7 is rough to do much with until you have a team that can support such players. Catchers are also fairly easy to develop. Blitzers make very good Catchers, as do Human Linemen. Everyone on your team is a potential receiver with AG3 and a reroll.
Personally, I like a lot of rerolls. In this line up, you have your players to pick up the ball. In this line up, you also shouldn't have to reroll too many blitzes having three players with block from the get go. This will free up your rerolls for catches or dodges and allow you to develop those linemen early.
The Ogre is just good sense. Muscle on the line, even if you don't throw a block with him every turn. He is also expensive and slow to develop. Getting him earlier in the team's creation means much more potential for long term development.
I know a lot of folks like starting with as high of an FF as possible. Personally, I look at this roster and see most of the expensive players and rerolls purcahsed. I don't worry about long term injury because of the universal AV8 and the long-term inexpensive bent to the Human team.
If, however, you want more FF, you can drop one of the rerolls in short order. You can also downgrade the Ogre to another Blitzer, or a Blitzer/Passer to a Lineman. If you are going to do any of those, I would suggest dropping the Ogre down to a Blitzer for four points of FF and a Thrower down for another two points.

I just started an ECBBL season with
1 Ogre
2 Blitzers
2 Catchers
1 Thrower
5 linemen
3 TRR
9 FF
Its been doing very well so far, 1 defeat, 2 draws and 5 wins. The only downside was that my +ST lineman got killed, after my apoth was mickey finned (I hate that handicap). Purchases so far are apoth, blitzer, thrower, blitzer, catcher.
I wanted the Ogre early so that he could get SPPs quickly, before the opposition got too skilled and he would be struggling to put people down, other than that its fairly balanced. I've struggled to skill up the blitzers though, as the catchers hog all the TDs.

Would you start with that very line-up again? If not, what would you change and why?ianwilliams wrote:I just started an ECBBL season with

I really like ianwilliams' line-up! It's funny what people do with 1000K!
I started witht this:
4 Blitzers
7 linemen
1 thrower
2 RR
9 FF
30 K treasury
Then, I bought Apoth, RR, RR, Ogre, Catcher, Catcher, RR, RR. Next buy is a second thrower, since the first one aged after his third skill (+1 AG, Accurate and Block, for the record!).

A very good question. Actually I don't think I would change the starting lineup.Mirascael wrote: Would you start with that very line-up again? If not, what would you change and why?
Starting with the Ogre (although he contributed to my only defeat by failing 9 bone head rolls) was a good thing, especially as he got Leader for his 1st skill

After that, with 9FF & 3 TRR you haven't really got a lot of money to spend. You could drop a TRR for an apoth or 12th man. I've found I rarely use the ones I've got - having "reroll" skills on lots of things means I can use them for blocking and doing stuff with the blitzers.

4 Blitzers, 4 Catchers, 2 Throwers, 1 Lineman
2 Re-rolls, 7 Fan Factor
The idea is to be competitve right from the start. You will suffer some casualties, but on the other hand you get Starplayer Points on positional players very fast. The Strategy relies on quantity over quality. Your oponent will not be able to knock out all 4 of your catchers without at least 2 of them scoring. 2 Rerolls are enough since you got a lot of skill re-rolls for the players up to the tasks. rerolls are basically for blocking.
This team needs an Ogre asap to give them some free hits and an apothecary to back up players that show talent. 7 FF is enough if you manage to score and win as this will give you more money and raise your FF quickly. The Lineman is a free agent for a early guard/kick/leader/dirty player skill. His role is guard for the blitzers.

You're better off not taking s many postitional players straight off, so that your linemen have a chance at earning some skills. The postitional players will earn SPP's quick enough that they can afford to play 1,2 3+ games less than the linemen.

Darkson is 100% right on this one. At a minimum, a fully tricked out Human team will carry five linemen. How those five linemen progress will really determine the long-term fate of your team. Heck, I went so far as to score all the early TDs with my Linemen, figuring that Catchers and Blitzers pick up SPPs quickly whether I want them to or not.

Note that have scored more than 2 TDs in my eight games, and neither is a catcher.
