S5 Black Ork, what now

I was lucky for once and rolled a double 6 on a BOB. First skill unfortunately, I would have prefered to have him Block first. Is that the logical next step? Which way would you develop him further?

I have 4 bobs (two with block), 4 blitzers (2 Mighty blows, 1 standfirm / Guard, 1 Guard), 2 thrower (1block/accurate), an ogre and a Gobbo with Catch.

Season is over for this team, I would like to develop more of the offensive game next season, but they are starting to show some sort of coordinated offense.

Any other suggestions? Ogre is headed for Block as well. After that, I don't know.

Block probably is the next logical step as it would help him avoid burning through your rerolls, as well as keeping him on his feet.

However, a riskier option (but one which could reap great rewards) would be to give him piling on. This would (hopefully!) get him far more casulties and quickly advance him to his next skill roll, where you could then give block.

Bear in mind that a st5 po bo would be a target so make sure he isn't isolated when he goes down.

So block is the safe option, but will condem him to slower development.

You pays yer money, you takes your choice. :-?

Exactly what I would say, maybe Mighty Blow after block and pile on to make him even better at getting those cas!

So you'd go PO Redfang? :)

That's what I like to see: fortune favours the brave!

Not 100% sure whether I'd go PO. On a first increase for a BO I would always go Block, and then second Guard or PO (Str4 Guard players are great). But since he got a Str increase first, yeah, I'd probably take PO next and block third. Then MB.

You should consider POn - makes it a lot easier to reach that second skill...

I always take block on my black orcs, but thats mostly because i roll skulls and POW/skull with them (probably about 75%).
The other reason is because opponent players with block can much more easily knock them down even with 2 dices my choice.

I go:

Block / MB / Tackle / Guard

with my BOBs.

Piling On is nice, but it usually cuts BOB's lifespan in half due to him being on the ground. If you're not using a PO ogre, I might recommend it for this guy instead, but the more PO players you have, the less containment you have.

first go for the reliable block, an block orc blitzing into a cage with strength 5 is very irritating

I support the conservative motion for getting Block. :)

Go for Block.

Second skill is only 10 SPP's away. A couple of CAS and a lucky MVP and you're there !

block...piling on won't get him to his next skill faster...it'll get him dead faster.

Po on normal, stand firm on doubles.

I would certainly go for piling on if you're using the current rules for that skill, but if you're using the old ones that will be back in November, i might go for block first (but piling on would still be very tempting).
