Dump-off on scoring type players?

Has anyone of you considered giving your blitzers or catchers Dump-Off on a double?
I know it's a good skill for a dwaven runner, but a human or other race scorer?
Or do you think it would be a wasted double?

Definitely makes up for a surprise --- once.

As soon, as it gets known, that your player has it, your opponents will make preparations like covering possible receivers and the like. So, another double on that dedicated receiver for nerves of steel becomes necessary. Are you playing elves? Then AG4 might help.

So, I'm not so sure about it. It can be worth a TD or two, but the effect may fade. And you have to remember that you have to keep receivers nearby, which may force you to play unidirectionally.

So, if you feel like it, go for it, it will surely provide some fun moments. Just make sure, you can handle the cons.

Dump off can be extremely frustrating to play against - especially if combined with Nerves of Steel and potential receivers with AG4 or catch.

Basically you make it much harder for your opponent to exploit hitting the ball carrier as he either has to dedicate players to covering receivers (in which case you may be better off taking the hit) or hopeing you fail the pass.

I've only got a DE team which I seldom play.

I paly mainly orcs and sometimes undead or just for the fun some of the experimental stuff (like... half-orcs  )

I have yet only given DO to one of the throwers on my older teams, but I've come to think that it's a bit wasted, since my thrower tactics are: pick up the ball, thrwo it away, then get into the bashing game.

but I've recently heard of one of the newbies in our league, that gave DO to his human blitzer and has so far got a TD with it (against a quite exp'd coach). so that's what brought it to my mind.

on doubles, I'd much rather give stand firm or dodge to my blitzers. but it might be a nice choice for the dwarf runners.

With a DE team what can be a good strategy is develop one thrower as a long passing player (Accurate, Strong Arm, Safe Throw) and the other as a dumper with Dump Off an Nerves of Steel.

on my Delf team, one thrower so far has got Sure Hands and Block, the other has got AG 6 :D
what he will get next is Pass Block for sure :smoking:

If/when I get round to playing Delfs I plan to take catch and dumpoff on both throwers and try a running game, at least well into the opponents half.

He is actualy talking about spending a DOUBLE on giving Dump Off to a catcher or blitzer! I dont know but as first double I realy wont bother giving it to a player. NOS is more important imho but as a 2nd double and if I have lots of other NOS players then it would be worth it.

But usualy your NOS Dump Off player will not be anywhere near the ball if the ballcarrier is blitzed (wich means there will be NO dump off).

As a first double on elf player: No way
2nd double : Maybe but dont think so (other stuff more important)

Dump off is only usefull if the dump off player prefers the running game.
The Player has to get, or hold the ball till the end zone.

Dwarven runners are the best example. Due to their lack of throwers or catchers, their job is to run, run, run. So Dump off is very cool, building some kind of rugby style. And a dwarf to catch is always there because no dwarf travels alone.

On other teams it is quite different. Elves for example, they are realy good in pasing and catching, but their playing speed is much higher.
The thrower is normaly in your halfside, pickup the ball, throw it to the receiver and take only a minor part in the rest of the 2 Turn Touchdown.
If you want to use Dump off with them your Dump off player has to wait on the Line of scrimage and is itself the ball receiver from another thrower.
It is at this point cool to have a player, Blitzer or Catcher with dump off, so that yout thrower can bring you the ball.

But a real thrower is the better dump of player because he has Pass and other usefull skills to acomplish the quik pass.
If you want a dump off game you have to slow down your play and get a little beardy. :)
