Quick Question:
As Sidestep is in the MBBL rules is there any advantage of it over Stand Firm, other than the fact that it's under Agility and not Strength?

The only advantage for Side Step over Stand Firm in the MBBL PBEM rules is that a player with Frenzy cannot take a second block against him (he side steps away!). So yes Stand Firm is a better skill in that it means no turnovers from failed dodges.

PS the reason for the change is otherwise Side Step would really slow the game down since you would need to email the file back to your opponent to ask which square to push the Side Stepper to.

Another important difference is that Side Step is an agility skill, but Stand Firm is a strength trait.

Those with agility skill access can take Side Step at any time, while others can only take it on a double. Only those with strength skill access can take Stand Firm, and then only on a double.

I would also like to mention that except for the PBeMBBL, all the PBeM leagues use the modified rules for Side Step (including Dangerous Dave's RABBL league) .... so its a fairly widely accepted change. The PBeMBBL will mostly likely adapt them by the end of the year as well according to the commish.

And being able to get out the way of Frenzy while minor isn't all that bad when you compare the skill vs trait value.
