I have tried to run it under Win95 and 98 compatibility mode without any success, sorry. You can make it work at older machines, but XP doesn't like BB thou ...
If you ever come out with a solution, please post it around here!!

windows xp doesn't like to run dos programs at all
the compatability modes are for running programs designed for windows 95/98 still not dos stuff
95/98 were built on a dos kernal iirc while xp is off the nt kernal
bottom line is you have to run it in 95/98 i found this out trying to get speedball 2 to run in XP
note there is a way to get dos stuff working in xp but its really complicated and a hella lot of hassle

Cannot stand the fact that I cannot lose to the computer (even if I played Halflings)BoB wrote:Not a big fan i take it?Deathwing wrote:Not as disappointed as you will be if you get it running......

Also hated the fact that the computer never purchased additional players.
Also dislike the fact that it would get the blocking rules wrong.
Just not high on my list.
Given that you can find a game of SkiJunkie BB with a real opponent at almost anytime in the FUMBBL league, I don't really see the point of the old computer program anymore.

Galak just scrapes the surface on how bad the game was....rerolls were bought on a per-use basis (and didn't seem to work anyway), dwarves seemed to intercept every pass thrown over them, you couldn't but standard replacement players, only stars with outlandish stats....and so on.
I played with dark elves and every time i did, after the 2nd season, the only team fielding ANYBODY besides me was the undead. I had killed all the orcs, rats, elves, flings, humies, etc and bought all the stars so they couldn't replace them except with a few race-specific guys. Of course I fouled every turn with dirty players too, it was the dark elf way...in fact the only 2 redeeming features of the game at all were the announcers and the "death music"

I think the problem here is you ppl expected too much, besides which, change it up to top skill level and it was pretty challenging ifyou played halflings
The game was fun and the death music kicked ass.

Not to be too technical (and i could easily be wrong), but even if you boot with a DOS floppy wouldn't you still need to have a FAT32 partition on your hard drive to be able to read the game data from and save to.
Never played the game though so I wouldn't really know.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

No, you can do it, however it has a few problems, memory allocation is one and you continually get memory highwater errors.
Secondly Windows XP REALLY doesnt like you booting with any system other than it. First it will try to start itself anyway, and if that doesnt work it will sulk the next time you setup, scanning disk, changing res etc.,.
end result it is more work than it is worth unfortunately.
