If the player holding the ball falls over for any reason,
how many times does the ball scatter? right now we are playing
it scatters once but what is the correct amount of times?

Yes, the ball just bounces once IF it lands in an empty square. If it lands in a square with a downed player it will bounce off of that player; and if it lands on an standing player they have to try to catch it and, if they don't, it will bounce away from them. And, of course, if it scatters off of the pitch, then the crowd will throw it in and it might bounce after that, etc.

So, it may make several more bounces, BUT if the first scatter roll is into an empty square it stops there.

(This marks my very first post)

Yes, a much more comprehensive answer, I guess I should have been a little more thorough in my answer.
