However 2 minute egg timers are not

Have found some 2 minute timers for less than £1.50 each. So good easily absorb that in the ticket price, and they would be available for future SpeedBowls

+1 for me. It sounds like an excellent idea.

In relation to playing a variant of BB i.e. 7's, I think the whole point of the idea is to play the full game under the pressure of very limited time.

This adds an element that can't be replicated with skill choices or 'standard' tournament rulesets (if there is such a thing).

I like it.
I can certainly finish a match in 75 minutes.
No one take nurgle or dwarfs though, that would just slow things down.
Oh and as for speed dating, I can't believe you guys forgot roxanne darknail. Shame on you.

2 egg timers per table should be fine - those ones with sand in them that last for roughly two minutes. Or anyone with an iphone ipod can get a free timer. Lots of other ideas to work around expensive chess clocks.

Sounds like a good idea. You would need to introduce clocks though as with it being a lot quicker it could easily be abused by someone who gets ahead early on.

I like the idea. Chess clock with a fix time of 30 minutes a player.

Then you can have really quick turns, and a slighty longer turn when you need it.

Perhaps when you are timed out, you get 1 minute turn.

My league have recently been playtesting 2 minute turns and they say it works OK.
I've toyed with the idea of chess clocks and setting the limit to 32 minutes each to play the whole the game, but that's not what I'm after (also I would have to buy the chess clocks and they arent cheap, where as basic digital timers are).

Perhaps when you are timed out, you get 1 minute turn.

If I used the chess clocks, I would steal an idea from the WC. Once your time is over, all you get to do on your turn is stand up prone players and roll over stunned ones.

They are also hashing out the idea of Time Outs, where you get to stop the clock X number of times in the game. But I'm not sure if that idea will survive the TO's vote (we are a democracy here at the Exiles: One man, one vote. I'm the man and I have the vote).


We are going to test out a few more tweeks and when I get a venue sorted I will be setting dates for the SpeedBowl one dayer and for the Exiles Open.
